Masked Singer voting patterns & women

Spoilers if you haven't caught up yet...

Has anyone been watching the Masked Singer and noticing that the audience consistently votes against female performers?

So far the first three contestants to have been eliminated are women. In almost every audience vote during the show, the man has won.

Tonight culminated in two of the best singers (both clearly female) being in the bottom two, whereas every single male participant (and one, Dragon, who no one can decide is male or female) was voted safe. In other words, out of the five performers, the only two obviously female singers were in the bottom two.

This is a show where contestants wear giant costumes to disguise their bodies. Yet somehow it's the women who sing well who still, for some unidentifiable reason, end up in the bottom, over men who really can't sing at all.

It's meant to be a daft light-hearted show, but so far the audience's anti-women vote has happened in every single episode and it's really harshing my mellow, man.

Episode 1:
Alien - risk - OUT
Swan - risk
Dragon* - win
Sausage - win
(Two male performers - win)

Episode 2:
Harlequin - risk
Seahorse - risk - OUT
(Four male performers - 3 wins, 1 risk)

Episode 3:
Sausage - risk
Swan - risk - OUT
Dragon* - safe
(Two male performers - safe)

*Note: The panel is split on whether Dragon is a woman. I've included them here otherwise the numbers would be even more depressing.

So there have been seven audience votes in total. Out of those seven, a woman has won twice at most (depending on whether Dragon is actually a woman).

I know the show's a bit of nonsense and doesn't deserve much analysis, but I just find it ridiculous that even in costume, dressed as a sausage or an alien, women still don't escape this constant sexism. Is it love for men or hate for women? Both? Either way, I don't find it enjoyable seeing talented women being overlooked for average men every single week. I don't want a dose of blatant sexism with my light entertainment, thanks.

@Diadora30

My daughter thanks that dragon may be Bianca Del Rio.

You’re right though, 2 really amazing singers in the bottom 2.

I think BdR isn’t nearly famous enough. What the casting team for this show are trying to avoid at all cost is the moment where the singer pulls their mask off and most of the audience says “who??” Courtney Act won Big Brother UK so would be a decent enough shout.

I was wondering about this - I mean in the second one, Grandfather Clock was outclassed by everyone else, but he was kept on and Seahorse out. Hmm

But then I don't think there was a bias last series and a woman won, might just be something about this lineup. There are some more unusual/distinctive voices among the men rather than just 'belters'

Dragon could be Michelle Visage. She used to be in a pop band and she champions LGBQT rights. She might not have been able to fly to the UK though.

And I reckon Grandfather Clock is Chris Kamara. He's ubiquitous these days!

I've said myself I'd like to understand what rationale the audience are using for their vote. I don't think it's who they think is the best performance or singer. I'm not even sure it's about which costume or character they like. I think there's something about which one they've made a strong guess at who's inside and they want to speed up the time it takes for the reveal as to whether they're right.

I definitely think the vocals are being ‘improved’ post production. They all sound too good quite frankly.
