The comments section is cheering though! Dr Theresa Tam is Canada’s Public Health Officer. mobile.twitter.com/CPHO_Canada/status/1346486747899830272

The ratio is a beauty.

CranberriesChoccyAgain · 06/01/2021 15:37

Most people, thankfully, get it. Gives me hope that all is not lost. Do women who identify as men and become pregnant "really' believe they're biologically male, and no longer female? I just can't grasp that level of dissonance/delusion.

Thelnebriati · 06/01/2021 15:42

What did people in Canada think they would get when they voted in favour of self ID?
Because the outcome is that women's rights disappear but violence against women carries on unchecked. And I'm pretty sure people tried to warn them that would happen.

Ritascornershop · 06/01/2021 15:47

I did not vote for self id (if you meant that literally). It was never put to a vote, it was slammed through. I think Canadians I know fall into 4 camps 1) they are unaware any of this is going on 2) aware but want to be nice 3) aware but handmaidens and trans-identified 4) the rest of us who think it’s batshit and recognize biological reality is separate from dysphoria.

Doctor of what? Philosophy perhaps?

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 06/01/2021 16:26

The good doc does realise that Covid hits men harder? I wonder how they word that tweet.

Oh no, men still remain as men for their health concerns. 🙄
StillAHarpie · 06/01/2021 18:15

The ratio is glorious Grin and very encouraging, referring to the country as Tranada seems somewhat apt as well

NChat · 06/01/2021 18:55

French equivalent tweet, because Canada.
My French isn't great, but "les femmes" sounds pretty womanly to me.

#influenza

I wonder if they were sent at the same time or the good doctor didn’t fancy a boot up they bum in bilingual...

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 06/01/2021 19:27

Thank you for backing up my point that degrees don't necessarily make one smarter or qualified in their profession

If the good doctor can’t manage to understand that only women get pregnant then the above applies to them.

Sittingonthefence83 · 06/01/2021 19:32

What is the ratio thing?

NChat · 06/01/2021 19:46

Ratio: on twitter, a lot of likes and not many comments suggests people agree, a lot of comments and low likes means people are arguing with you.

So a bad ratio or being ratio-ed means a tweet has many comments and few likes.

toomanytrees · 06/01/2021 20:25

I have sent an email of complaint to her government email address. I'm not sure if I can post it here but you can find it easily by searching on "dr theresa tam canada". I'm not inclined to accept pandemic recommendations from a medical doctor who doesn't know that women bear children.

Sittingonthefence83 · 06/01/2021 20:51

Thank you @NChat

Ritascornershop · 06/01/2021 23:59

I’d like to point out that Dr Tam was raised and mostly educated in the UK.

Thing is, there’s been such institutional capture on this issue that many of us in Canada fear for our jobs in speaking up. It’s tricky, but don’t assume that because politicians and bureaucrats speak TRA that Canadians as a whole subscribe to it.

What did people in Canada think they would get when they voted in favour of self ID?

Nobody voted for self-ID. There was no public discussion about self-ID. The vast majority of Canadians still have no idea self-ID is the law, or about Yaniv, or what's going on in women's prisons, because the national media deliberately doesn't report on it. Mumsnet and Twitter are more informed about this stuff than Canadians. Activists rammed it through in stealth, like their strategy document suggested. Really the only time TRAs didn't get away with duping the public by stealth was in the UK.
