To respond the the Tavistock appeal.

One good side effect of lock down is that all the money I would be spending on petrol etc can now be put to good causes.

Indeed. It's going well. I have just repurposed all the donations I used to make to the likes of Amnesty into one pot and dig from there - now only women's causes receive my donations and only ones who know what a woman is.

I don't know how they have the nerve to continue after the judgement and the humiliating smackdown in the first appeal rejection that proved they don't know what the fuck they're talking about.

They're basically saying ''nah, we'd like to continue experimenting on kids that can't consent, thanks'', rather than taking on board what was said.

I think Keira's lawyers have a chance to argue why the appeal shouldnt be allowed before the decision is made.

I'm certainly not aware of any new info that would add any weight to the other sides case. In fact the results of their investigation just proved some of the points made.

Unless there have been facts I've missed?

Maybe if they don't even try to appeal it leaves them even further up shit creek if/when other former patients sue them?

They will have to submit the investigation won't they?

Which pretty much invalidates their own argument that its a separate treatment as opposed to the beginning of a pathway?

Something I’m not clear about is whether the Tavi would be able to introduce new evidence to the Court of Appeal. I always imagined that the appeals were based on arguing points of law and how the JD was in error in their interpretation of same.

If the Tavi would like to introduce the results of their own “research” published on the day after the verdict was given, I could only interpret that as utterly brazen, never mind bloody foolish.

These people have reputations and careers to protect, nothing more.

I wonder if the Tavi is looking for an unequivocal stop. I did read that there was a real push by patients to get the cross sex hormones and puberty blockers (on advice from Mermaids et al) and maybe the Tavi wants to close all avenues

Couldn't they have done that with the first appeal that we rejected though?

As I understand it, the Tavistock request to appeal through the same court (the High Court) was rejected which is standard procedure. They are now seeking permission to appeal through the next court up, the Appeal Court and that request for permission needs to be opposed which costs money.

I'm beginning to think that the Tavistock actually want to be closed down.
