Hello you magnificent women,

I jibber jabber in FWR a lot, I usually use a different name on MN for privacy and avoidance of "the monitors" but decided today to make sure to use the one that matches my proper Twitter name a little more. Am often also Ladybirds are Birds, Dandelions are Lions, MandyMcGirld**k etc. over on the bird site

So many women have been banned from Twitter over last week (school/uni holidays 🙄) and we may never find each other again here or ovarit/spinster if use new anonymous handles.

Am far from big shot but LOVE my couple of thousand followers. So thought would introduce myself here with matching name so can at least link it to my account and be contacted via DM once get suspended for final time (coming soon)

Introduce yourself with your Twitter handle. Add it as a screen name even if you don't want to state it publicly yet, if only to PREVENT SOMEONE ELSE NABBING IT FIRST.

WARNING: do NOT share any personal info by DM until are 100% absolutely sure is the same person!! It is easy to change screen name on MN for good and bad. Be careful.

X X Happy New Year XX

PS. Quite liking being Aromatica here already. X X

Have you thought of joining Spinster were most ejected from twitter go - but not to talk about twitter but to be able to talk about what they want?!! spinster.xyz/

Aromatica · 01/01/2021 17:12

Joined there in a different name as didn't want the proper honesty can have there to set the monitors on to my twitter account. Have hardly used it though.

For those of us that have been on MN for years so this is better way for us to vouch have a history and link Twitter name without revealing name if Mumsnet account as can change screen names so easily. Best way to find the same people again without sharing private information or other ids.

Embarrassingly, whilst I do occasionally tweet, and some of my tweets are GC, I have no idea how to see when someone replies to me, and I don’t go on there regularly, so I have no idea if I have ever had a nasty reply to my posts, and it would take me ages to notice if I was suspended.

Aromatica · 01/01/2021 18:39

Voice, Terry and Blaue confirmed X X.

Come on in everyone , let's keep our network.

Hey hun ❤️

Aromatica · 01/01/2021 19:24

Am getting some strange agressive DMs accusing me of trying to dox by linking accounts.

Don't think explained it well. Am only suggesting to change screen name to Twitter handle for THIS thread and this thread only. We can then confirm in twitter DMs.

Don't share any private info on it. Keep your location and family info separate.

For example: You could be Ann Smith here, talking about breast feeding and Brexit and drawing parking diagrams for years.
You could be Corkin Dworkin on Twitter taking on JoMo and gender extremists on Twitter.
You change MN screen name to Corkin Dworkin temporarily for this feminism chat thread so your twitter followers can find you, confirm is you in twitter DMs.
Those who message 'Corkin Dworkin' on Mumsnet will not see 'Ann Smith' personal information or any link to it.

Can someone explain Mumsnet screen name changes better than me please?

Ooops, thought I had already posted in here but can't find it. How do I change my name on here? (doodleswoo)

Sparkyduchess · 01/01/2021 21:48

No idea how you change on here but I see you on the other site 😊

Molesmokes · 02/01/2021 09:57

Aromatica I appreciate that your suggestion is well-intentioned but it is not without risk.

Mumsnet Moderators can view Private Messages and “Nick Name” aka “User Name” history. Mumsnet has been infiltrated in the past by individuals on staff who used their privileges to access private info in order to dox members.

A thread like this is an invitation to both hackers and “5th Columnists” to access private Mumsnet data and pair it with Twitter data. They might not succeed in identifying who we are IRL but they could still use that information to cause trouble and distress, eg. by referring on Twitter to information disclosed on Mumsnet. This could be personal and upsetting, “political” and compromising, etc.

Posts across the whole of Mumsnet using any Mumsnet “Nickname” linked to an account could be mined for information, not just FWR. Similarly, Twitter data could be referred on in posts on Mumsnet by bad actors.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 02/01/2021 10:13

Mumsnet has been infiltrated in the past by individuals on staff who used their privileges to access private info in order to dox members

Shit, is that true? Surely Mumsnet could sue anyone who did that? And isn’t it illegal anyway?

I know the misogynists are very well-funded, but surely no one is going to want a conviction like that on their work record. A serious breach of trust like that could follow them around the rest of their working life.

persistentwoman · 02/01/2021 10:21

Sadly *thinkingaboutLangCleg8 - it's true. And while I have huge respect for MNHQ and their staff, there is a concerted campaign to close Mumsnet down. Last time it was an intern working there who apparently, despite their appalling actions in screen shotting some posters private information and sharing it online, was never prosecuted and now apparently has a job in the civil service? Confused

I really think you should ask for this thread to be pulled - there are some very unpleasant people out there obsessively crawling over this board who frankly wish harm towards the women who post on here.

Antigori · 02/01/2021 18:39

Hello everyone Happy New Year 2021

Catmaiden · 03/01/2021 22:41

No way am I linking my Twitter/Fb etc handles with on here. No apologies, just not doing it. Too risky.

Quaagars · 03/01/2021 23:54

I'm not GC, but even I can see even if you have "good intentions", this is asking for problems.
(That's really, really not meant to be threatening before anyone interprets it as such! "GC" posters have said the same too.

DerBlaueReiter · 04/01/2021 00:08

Same. I didn't even give my real name and I don't use this "handle" anywhere else, I just figured that people who know me could make the association and no problems for those who don't since we have an informal verification process.

Having said that I do think Aromatica's brainstorm is a great one; we are hiding in plain sight amid thousands of people posting about feuds with their neighbours and celebrity gossip so this is really ideal.

At least we know where the rendezvous point is if we get separated some other way. Smile

DidoLamenting · 04/01/2021 00:08

I'm not GC either but this is not a good idea.

Catmaiden · 04/01/2021 00:27

Yep, reported this thread
