Interesting article on BBC website, refers to women, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Will pregnant women receive the Covid-19 vaccine? It depends -

I found it an excellent, clear, unambiguous article, btw.

How very refreshing! Do we need to archive it before the wokest editor gets busy with the blue pencil?

Fimofriend · 22/12/2020 09:46

It is a good article. It is just sad that it is a novelty to see an article using this kind of clear language these days.

Catmaiden · 22/12/2020 11:52

Fimo, that is exactly what I thought, when I first read it.

Think I've archived it now.

This is something that pisses me off.

They need to put their money where their mouth is.

Some things we're not allowed to have those words. So own it.

They need to say vagina owners or whatever when they mean female. And penis havers for stuff about men.

Get the new language out in the mainstream.

See what the public make of it.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/12/2020 07:36

It's a serious article about a serious health and medial ethics issue.

I followed a few of the links on that page - they all used normal sex-based language as far as I can see.

Oh dear. Are the woke younglings all on annual leave perhaps?

Igneococcus · 25/12/2020 10:38

Facebook suggested an article from Unicef to me about Covid and pregnancy and it was woman and mothers all throughout.

NiceGerbil · 27/12/2020 16:05

They use woman/ girl when it suits them and mean female

And then elsewhere it's vulva owners etc

It's inconsistent. If they're going to insist on newspeak they should use it everywhere.

They can't get to use the words in the old fashioned way when it suits them to tug heartstrings. Or in articles which are more mainstream eg Corona.

It's their language they approved it so use it all the time and see what the public reaction is.
