#TheStaniland Question

Some chap got Helen Staniland a twelve-hour suspension for posting her safeguarding question. Twitter are literally making it impossible to discuss the safety of women and girls on their site. If you're still on there, can you please help get #thestanilandquestion trending for the time she's gone?

And please don't ban this thread, Mumsnet moderators, there is literally nothing wrong with it.

@EyesOpening

I saw the Julia Roberts thing too, made me think that basically she would be happy for her 16 year old daughter Hazel, to go into the restrooms alone (because what 16 year old wants their mum to go in with them?) with the likes of Weinstein or Epstein

Great point. Someone should make it to JR.

Siameasy · 15/12/2020 13:00

My question is
Which prison for trans men?
So far I have asked several “believers” and they cannot answer.
Second question
Which dosage of medicine where different dosages are given to men and women should a trans woman receive?
Again never had an answer

I think women need segregated changing rooms for lots of reasons and some of those reasons clearly have a bearing on the bathroom debate:

I’ll assume I won’t be deleted for saying Julia Roberts is a nob.

Deliriumoftheendless · 15/12/2020 13:38

Whatever slebs want, I do not want my daughter to have fewer rights and less safety than I had growing up.

CaraDuneRedux · 15/12/2020 14:03

Would Julia Roberts be comfortable and happy showering naked next to Jessica Yaniv?

EdgeOfACoin · 15/12/2020 15:30

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that Julia Roberts has never heard of Jessica Yaniv.

I suspect that most people who argue passionately in favour of male sexed people being allowed to use women's changing rooms have no idea that there is a male-bodied person in Canada who has tried to sue immigrant women for refusing to wax their balls, and who wants advice on how to help ten-year-old girls insert their tampons.

Some people are aware of Jessica Yaniv, of course, and don't seem to mind that Yaniv is free to use changing rooms alongside women and girls. Others might find that it changes their view somewhat on the whole thing.

And still others will call you a bigot and accuse you of saying that all transwomen are predators for introducing people like Yaniv into the debate.

I saw someone answer her question the other day along the lines of 'yes, I do, so what if a girl catches a glimpse of penis in a changing room?'

The entitlement and misogyny is just so breathtaking sometimes.

That's basically where I got to when I tried to argue this point with someone. Basically, he said we should all be less squeamish and everyone should change with each other.

In fairness, he looked uncomfortable arguing that point with me. I suspect it's easier to make that argument from behind a computer screen.

it would be interesting to see how many medicines have had the relevant testing to differentiate doses between male/female (rather than just treating women as little men) but I found this article which implies that if a male-bodied transgender person (obviously not taking any other medical treatment into account) was treated with female doses of the drug for heart failure, their survival rate would be far lower.

I guess a huge challenge for medics would also be the interaction between the trans-related medication being taken by a patient with the normal drugs - I guess many will not be tested to find out if they are safe so may not be given to a medicated transgender patient? Either that or there is a much higher risk of complications? I'd hate to be a doctor 'flying blind' like that.

It’s also worth flipping the question.
Should we be encouraging isolated vulnerable 13 year old females (that identify as men) to enter men’s changing rooms, showers, dorms and toilets?

I doubt Julia Roberts has had to shower in the company of any other human being for a very long time (unless she has staff holding a towel for her.) what does she know of everyday life?
CaraDuneRedux · 16/12/2020 09:10

Yes, I agree Delerium (I should have spelled it out, though I knew people would make the obvious connection). Woke spend are always the people with enough money to insulate them from the need for single sex spaces. They're never going to end up on a closed, mixed sex, NHS psych ward, or in a homeless shelter.

What about a whole lot more than a glimpse or being the object of someone else’s “glimpse”?
RozWatching · 16/12/2020 11:14

I don't get why all these people feel the need to stick their oar in if they are not personally affected or fussed either way.

I can guess the mindset of men who want women's spaces to become mixed sex, but slebs opining from their privileged cocoons - why? Saying "it doesn't bother me" when other people have explained why it impacts some women and girls just makes them look self-absorbed and dim.

Whatwouldscullydo · 16/12/2020 11:22

I've seen it answered once

The answer was along the lines that because the transgirl didn't get to shower in a space away from their own penis then other girls shouldn't either

lionheart · 16/12/2020 11:36

That's a winner, Whatwouldscullydo.

Whatwouldscullydo · 16/12/2020 11:46

I think its important to add that it was said by an "ally" white male "ally" of course...

I put it in quotation marks because many so called allys aren't really, and are in fact making life very difficult for those they claim to support , by enjoying the opportunity to shit on women just that little bit too much and not giving a crap they are making things a hundred times worse and undoing all the work that had been done up until now...
