There is some important work being undertaken by feminists who oppose surrogacy. I've just finished listening to a fascinating webinar where Julie Bindel spoke about gay men using surrogacy. I'll be back to post the video when it's up later...
In connection to this I share two declarations for signature/global petitions. Please consider signing and sharing.
From the HCCH:
"The Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) is working to define surrogacy in an international protocol.
This would open the door to a globalized market for the trade in surrogate mothers in the mostly poor countries of the world.
We must urgently oppose this initiative, which is contrary to women's rights. Therefore, support this campaign on behalf of your organisation and/or on your own behalf. Please disseminate the call in your networks.."

AND
Latin America Manifesto:
"Nearly 100 feminist organisations from all over Latin America (South, Central and Caribbean), associated with ICASM, launch the FIRST LATIN AMERICAN MANIFESTO AGAINST REPRODUCTIVE EXPLOITATION in response to attempts to open up surrogacy in Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia and Mexico.
Support this initiative by signing the manifesto on your own behalf and/or on behalf of your organisation. Please disseminate it in your networks."
