I'm sure this thread will be deleted in a heartbeat but I just had to share this. It would be hilarious if it wasn't true

The Locomotion was originally a hit for Little Eva. Or should we now say 'Little Adam'?

Datun · 28/11/2020 18:09

@WinWinnieTheWay

I think the penny just dropped for me at "lifelong medical patient". This is about a mass market opportunity.
This.

And because it often doesn't solve any problems, the temptation is to have more and more extreme treatment.

NeedToKnow101 · 28/11/2020 18:11

Wow this funny video couldn't make it clearer how absolutely cynical the whole thing is. It's an industry.

Now can I see the farting wombat?

BlackForestCake · 28/11/2020 18:25

It's good but he can't sing, it's all off key.

MichelleofzeResistance · 28/11/2020 18:26

Always an interesting paradox that a movement that began as the edgy new rebellion against the establishment eventually becomes the establishment. Artistic rebels will always point out sharp insights into that establishment. Reminds me somewhat of Kenny Everett and Ben Elton's early days and their razorsharp comedy on Thatcherism of the day.

Brilliant video-should be played in every school/university/gov't office. Its so honest.

morningtoncrescent62 · 29/11/2020 09:02

I would love to show this to some of my colleagues. I feel caught in a double bind. The internet is full of thoughtful, carefully-argued articles and essays debunking gender identity woo. But it takes time and energy to engage with them, and most of my colleagues can't be bothered don't have enough of a reason to make the time to engage with them. A video like this gets straight to the heart of the problem, but I can just hear the cries of "Oh but that's so disrespectful and it's mocking transgender people' (presumably why the OP thinks it's going to be deleted from FWR). I don't know how to get around it.

NotBadConsidering · 29/11/2020 09:18

@BlackForestCake

It's good but he can't sing, it's all off key.
It’s not off key. You have to change songs slightly to avoid copyright infringement.

I think he’s awesome. Puberty blockers are to me the biggest scandal of it all.

DrDavidBanner · 29/11/2020 09:21

Yes that is why I thought it would be deleted Mornington Cresent I don't think it is anti trans but it does point out some cold hard truths and I know the monitors don't like that.
I was watching an episode of Louis Theroux with DH and he was talking to a child who was considering starting blockers, the mother saaid they were following the child's wishes and the child looked about 10 at most, and there was no questioning of it at all, just "Good luck n your special journey" Now LT usually is very good at getting right to the point showing things aren't as shiny or fluffy as they look on the outside but the fact he didn't question it at all felt very sinister to me.
We were both pretty stunned at what we saw and did find it quite upsetting to think what this child's future would be.

Wow that was brilliant

Tootsweets23 · 29/11/2020 10:02

I think that @morningtoncrescent62 is why I think this video is significant. All the acres of (correct but earnest words can be dismissed, or smeared as being funded by right wing groups etc etc. A satirical video by a performer without a right wing axe to grind (someone who looks and sounds like a gender woo person but isn't) is much harder to dismiss.

emilybrontescorsett · 29/11/2020 10:08

Thanks for posting.

Quillink · 29/11/2020 10:36

That was great.

FlibbertyGiblets · 29/11/2020 10:46

Double thumbs up from me. Thank you.
