I am in Sydney, Australia. I don’t know ANYBODY who is GC here. Are there any other GC Mumsnetters in Sydney? Or does anybody know of any groups I can join? Thanks.

Hi!

BlackWaveComing · 25/11/2020 03:46

All my Gen X Mum friends are GC.
Nothing organised (though there are rad fem Sydney groups).

Tezza1 · 25/11/2020 03:50

Blue Mountains: I am gender critical (Sorry, I just have to say it: I am Spartacus).

FirstClassFlightHome · 25/11/2020 03:56

Oh, hello friends!

Yes, though as I live in Newtown (very high LGB population) it's very hard to find other GC people here

I know of a few rad fems in the Inner West.
FirstClassFlightHome · 25/11/2020 04:36

@ScotInExile can you imagine wearing an Adult Human Female T-shirt around Newtown? You’d be lynched!

@BlackWaveComing so these women have a group I can join?

Blue Mountains, too, but I don’t know of any groups. There are definitely GC feminists on EB and the new Every Bump, but the TRA supporters are ferocious.

beautifulmonument · 25/11/2020 04:57

I'm in Brisbane. Used to live in Sydney until 3 years ago.
The Feminist Legal Clinic are very active and in Sydney (feministlegal.org)
You can sign up with them and get email updates on stuff and they launched the Declaration on Women's Sex Based Rights in Australia. If anyone didn't already know!

TheKrakening3 · 25/11/2020 05:02

I’m in Cairns. That doesn’t really help!

FirstClassFlightHome · 25/11/2020 05:04

It’s good to know that there are more of us around.

I'm outside of Melbourne

Beario · 25/11/2020 06:03

I'm in Sydney, don't know any GC people in real life, mostly the opposite unfortunately. My employer is going very woke.

Winesalot · 25/11/2020 07:29

Many of my friends in Sydney have not put it together. I suspect that they would be GC but they don’t know much about it (obviously not working in woke organisations). Many don’t use social media even though they are gen x.

However, it is the same amongst my friends here In UK though. Most don’t know much about it as they haven’t put it together. Unless they have teenagers who are or have friends that are NB or trans.

In real life though, very few of my friends think much about it.

Could go for an 'I heart JKR' bag instead? It's a bit more subtle and you can play innocent if anyone calls you on it. You're just a grown up Potter fan who's really enjoying Cormoran Strike at the moment and approves of philanthropy that gets people knocked off the Forbes' rich list.

Winesalot · 25/11/2020 09:48

I’d be tempted to sticker King St next time I am over. Particularly up the uni end.

EHopes · 25/11/2020 13:08

Also Aussie.

There are groups here, make sure you join the coalition for biological reality group on Facebook and I also suggest joining joyous birth to find like minded women locally.

Let me tell you a story. I arrived in Sydney via a very wonderful time in Perth one Sunday afternoon a couple of Decembers ago for a large educational conference. Dropped off at my apartment and all unpacked I thought I would take a wander down to the local supermarket on the Parramatta rd and the first bus stop I came to I saw a black sticker saying woman = adult human female and I couldn’t fucking believe my eyes.

I was all the way across the world and I saw a Posie Parker sticker on a bus stop. I had never, nor have yet to see, that in England so I would say, YES. There are GC women in Sydney and they made my whole year when I saw that sign 👊🏻

Winesalot · 25/11/2020 23:48

I am most impressed VictoriaLucas102. I have not seen a sticker here in the UK yet. I am contemplating my future though as a sticker woman. Wink

DappledOliveGroves · 25/11/2020 23:54

My 19 year old DD lives in Waterloo and is thoroughly gender critical (although she has to be circumspect as most of her friends are woke)

WattleOn · 26/11/2020 07:04

When I was in Sydney, I didn’t know any GC feminists. I got so sick of the intersectional crap spouted by one so-called feminist group, I left. The group, not Sydney.

But I do think and hope that the tide is turning now.

NessRose88 · 26/11/2020 09:53

I'm in Toowoomba, which is part of the Qld Bible Belt. Very conservative, highest percentage of votes against gay marriage in Oz. I don't think the general population up here are even aware of what is going on.
