Baroness Kishwer Falkner is the Government’s preferred candidate for Chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission. She has been a Member of the House of Lords since 2004 and a Crossbencher since 2020.
Baroness Falkner was non-affiliated from 2019-2020 and prior to that (2004 to 2020) she was a Liberal Democrat Peer, serving on the front bench from 2004 to 2015.
She has served on eight select committees, including the Joint Committee on Human Rights from 2004 to 2010, and chaired the EU Sub-Committee on Financial Affairs.
Baroness Falkner has been a Member of the Bank of England’s Enforcement Decision Making Committee since 2018.
