Well you can see it here. It's only a ten minute section and the whole thing is worth a look but if you are very short of time Lord Young asked the final question.
He is getting a thank you card from me today.

OP posts:

Thank you for this, and thank you to Lord Young. I will also send him a card.

PurpleHoodie · 27/10/2020 13:50

Really good news.

FlippinFumin · 27/10/2020 14:14

Wow. I am shook. Good for Lord Young. A card is on its way.

nepeta · 27/10/2020 14:50

A great question. The answer? Not so much.

PurpleHoodie · 27/10/2020 15:28

It looked like she really didn't want to answer.

Clicking the pen lid on very firmly. She looked a bit rattled.

FindTheTruth · 27/10/2020 15:29

Thanks OP.

here's the 2 minute video with the question itself: parliamentlive.tv/event/index/415a223c-5f03-4c77-bd76-04f6c4ff50ac?in=12:39:50&out=12:40:58

interesting question about procurement contracts specifying trans inclusion , which penalises providers that operate single sex

FindTheTruth · 27/10/2020 15:30

on refuges.

Ann Sinnotts case is important

Angryresister · 27/10/2020 15:43

Must be discussed in private as it is too volatile a subject..... great question, not so great follow up.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 27/10/2020 16:31

Wow that was a good question to hear (seems to be utterly terrifying to answerHmm)

Thank you Lord Young!

Whatwouldscullydo · 27/10/2020 16:36

Last time we heard " will be happy to meet and discuss" wasn't it when Joanne cherry took on twitter ( I think it was her. Over the kill terfs animations and threats received and nothing done about it) it never happened did it?

For people so sure of themselves ajd what they are saying they never have the courage to just answer the questions do they

highame · 27/10/2020 16:41

I worry about all this capture. Our public services, which we pay for with our taxes, are really pushing to remove single sex spaces, regardless of the law. They are equally forceful at removing women.

When most women wake up to what is going on, it will be too late.

Whatwouldscullydo · 27/10/2020 16:45

When most women wake up to what is going on, it will be too late

The men won't seem to figure it out until their daughters end up in a dangerous situation.

But then after punching who ever is involved i expect they will go back to blaming the victim for ending up on the situation in the first place.

Deliriumoftheendless · 27/10/2020 16:45

Yeah that meeting’s never happening.

morningtoncrescent62 · 27/10/2020 16:46

Weren't there some Labour lords asking good questions last week? I'm sure I saw that somewhere, but I wasn't able to watch the clip at the time and I lost sight of what/where it was.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 27/10/2020 17:01

I think we need to drop Baroness Williams a note to stress how important the meeting is.

LOLeater · 27/10/2020 17:16

Postcards sent to both Lord Young and the Minister. Ridiculous that we need to do this but I’m happy to write to people who are brave enough to raise clear questions even if they concern “volatile” issues. She looked very uncomfortable indeed.....

EyeRollForever · 27/10/2020 17:41

@morningtoncrescent62 yes Lord Triesman and i can't remember the other one but PP covered it here. Starts just after 11 minutes

TheShoesa · 27/10/2020 18:07

What a very clear question from Lord Young.
The response was crap, though.

TheShoesa · 27/10/2020 18:26

Lord Young of Norwood Green (Labour) :

My Lords, can the Noble Lady, the minister tell us how the government will ensure that refuge and other providers which choose to prioritise the wellbeing of women by applying single sex exemptions are not penalised through contracts awarded by Local Authorities, CCGs and PCCs, many of which have misinterpreted the Equality Act by making gender neutral or Trans Inclusive provision for the members of the opposite sex a condition of contracts. And finally, would the Noble Lady the minister agree to a meeting with myself and others to discuss the current guidance on this issue. Thank you.

Baroness Williams, Minister of State Home Dept (Cons):

Well, I think what is important is that local providers of accommodation based services are the people who are best placed to do the risk assessment when people are, em, are, are, are going into their accommodation, um, I think it's become a very, very er volatile conversation and I would be very, very pleased, in slow time, to have a conversation with the Noble Lord on this very issue.

PostItJoyWeek · 27/10/2020 18:34

Too volatile to discuss openly she says thus local providers should risk assess every individual being placed apparently. Why does she think single sex refuges exist? The abusive men don't wear a badge.

PostItJoyWeek · 27/10/2020 18:35

Very sad to hear Baroness Williams pretty much stating out loud that she is so scared of angry activists she is running away and leaving each local authority and each refuge to fight alone. Shameful cowardice where leadership is needed.

OllyBJolly · 27/10/2020 18:55

That was an encouraging two minutes!

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 27/10/2020 18:55

This is basically the political equivalent of those MLM people who respond to straight forward questions like "how much is your product? What company do you work for" with "pm me hun". Tragic.

Imnobody4 · 27/10/2020 21:32

Wasn't that answer just - it's for providers to decide, nothing to do with me or the government. Shameful.

ChattyLion · 27/10/2020 22:19

That made me laugh Grabthars. Grin
But FGS what a crap, evasive non-answer.
