This looks like a good charity?

In light of what happens to others.
But does anyone know about them? It seems it would be hard for them to do anything other than act for women?
I was thinking about this as I always review my regular charity donations through gaye around Xmas www.womenforwomen.org.uk/about-us/our-story

I've come across them before OP - they look to be a strong woman centred charity working with the most marginalised women. (Hope I'm not disappointed)

I love their #HopeInSisterhood campaign. Their social channels seem mercifully women focused. They're certainly not afraid to use the word, they also focus a lot on "sisterhood". Looks to be pretty impactful too.

Oh yes they do fantastic work! Lots of references to women & girls, excellent programmes focused on the most marginalised women. I’ve donated in the past & will do so again once less digging is required for legal challenges.

(Plus the gorgeous Tom Burke is one of their ambassadors)

To broaden it out and in light of the gc gift guide, are there others people should consider?
I do a bit of digging as and when needed but others may want to think about gaye things. All the big international ones ended up being slightly problematic over the years so I’m guessing I’m not the only one to wonder how to spread a small but regular spadeful of largesse

They seem like a very good charity. Sadly needed.

Awaits them being targeted by TRAs...

Beyond FGM are a very small scale charity doing amazing work in a very remote part of Kenya, they urgently need money right now. They are most definitely female focussed and female led.

OhHolyJesus · 27/10/2020 21:46

Yes! I've been hearing about them. Good to see, after La Leche League, SANDS and now Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace it's good to see someone know what a woman is.

I have been sponsoring a woman to do their programme each year for about 7 years. Women learn business skills, but also political and reproductive rights. The emphasis is all on empowering women to be independent and on short-term, measurable outcomes, rather than on leaving women dependent on aid. I think they're great.

anyone still looking for a charity that supports women and girls, here is the fb page of Beyond FGM, apparently they have an urgent fundraising drive to combat the 'cutting season' which will start early December.
