JENNI MURRAY: I won’t be silenced by a hate mob that says I should die

New article by Jenni

Some of the script:

I was one of the first to state publicly my belief that the difference between sex and gender matters, that women need to have their own safe spaces.

Equally, a trans woman deserves respect and freedom from bullying.

For this, I have been trolled and threatened with hideous violence. It’s terrifying to be told you should die, that strangers want you sacked. The emotional toll has been, at times, quite overwhelming.

There are so many stories of women bullied and even kicked out of jobs for voicing similar opinions.

If you haven't already signed, I'm sure these ladies would love your support either anonymously or with your name.

Original Letter

We are a group of writers, actors, directors, musicians, producers, comedians and artists who wish to speak in support of JK Rowling. She has been subjected to an onslaught of abuse that highlights an insidious authoritarian and misogynistic trend in social media. Rowling has consistently shown herself to be an honourable and compassionate person and the appalling hashtag #RIPJKRowling is just the latest example of hate speech directed against her and other women that Twitter and other platforms enable and implicitly endorse.

We are signing this letter in the hope that if more people stand up against the targeting of women online, we might at least make it less acceptable to engage in it or profit from it.

We wish JK Rowling well and stand in solidarity with her.

Signed,

Weird segue into a bit about shoulder pads!

But YAY to see Jenni ungagged at last

Really want her to go to Times radio!

KnightsofColumbusThatHurt · 15/10/2020 07:55

The response from this from the 'caring, compassionate side' will of course be

'Oh put a sock in it love, no one is trying to silence you, you have coverage in a national newspaper'

Rather than

'Goodness that terrible that you have had death threats and harassment for stating your views on this, I don't agree with you on this issue, but that is totally wrong and I'm glad you can speak out about it.'

FindTheTruth · 15/10/2020 07:55

yeah and the Tom Cruise Fiat and shy Di.

I hope to see 'Free Jenni' running a radio show soon.

Jenni ✊👍

BovaryX · 15/10/2020 09:33

This is a great article. It is significant that it is printed in a newspaper which has not been entirely colonised by wokeism and thus has a large circulation. Those who believe pronouns are literal violence justify actual physical violence and threats to use it. The women who have questioned the demands of the trans lobby have been subjected to a deluge of misogynistic bullying on Twitter. Good on Jenni for speaking out. Good on Jenni for specifically citing Keira Bell's case. Good on the Mail for printing it.

IwishNothingButTheBestForYou2 · 15/10/2020 11:26

.. the Tom Cruise Fiat ..

Google no help - anyone?

PearPickingPorky · 15/10/2020 11:31

I'm so pleased she is continuing to speak about this.

These big-hitter women who are willing to withstand the onslaught and keep speaking.

Love them.

FindTheTruth · 15/10/2020 11:32

Iwishnothing it's half way down the article Tom Cruise tootling around Rome in a tiny, vintage Fiat 500 (pictured).

And not the mob appear to be going after Malala (for daring to ask people to vote for a friend of hers who is standing in political elections) because they are Conservative.

Hmmmm. Let me think, who scares her more? Idiots with keyboards or Taliban with guns pointed at her head?

PurpleHoodie · 15/10/2020 11:54

They are not fit to kiss Malala's feet.

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/10/2020 13:48

Looks like she has got a regular column in The Mail, given she covered several topics.

Good. She'll reach a wide audience.

Go Jenni!
