Women’s Aid new chief executive

I just saw an advert for the new CE at women’s aid: www.womensaid.org.uk/job/chief-executive-2/?fbclid=IwAR3KxQZWQLWNCJ9ktElfHtcGx3x51cGlPtp6mIjsqNBtS5SaNidmD74w8vE
I wonder if anyone from here is qualified, in the right location and in the market for a new job. The ad says they are looking for a female applicant which I presume is a good sign that they understand biology matters.

I was almost afraid to open the thread lest they be looking for anyone who identifies as a woman. Glad they’re specifically saying female.

FannyCann · 30/09/2020 19:37

I hope they mean it.

Women’s Aid new chief executive

Well this means they have failed to recruit anyone as it was first advertised some time ago after the resignation of the previous CE. www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2019/feb/07/womens-aid-chief-kate-ghose-steps-down-public-praising-ukip

I had hoped that one of the acting CE would get the post as she has made two gender critical comments.

Also strange timing when they are just starting a consultation with member refuges on "single sex service provision"

SerenityNowwwww · 30/09/2020 21:03

I wait to be pleasantly surprised...

Just by way of contrast here is the ad for a new CE for Fawcett:

The Fawcett Society is committed to achieve greater diversity in its executive team, and particularly welcomes applications regardless of race, age, LGBT+ status or disability.

Well that's entirely predictable

SmallPug · 05/10/2020 08:16

I had hoped that the resignation of the CE for the Fawcett society was because of their crap record so far on this issue. Clearly not.

ChattyLion · 05/10/2020 09:10

So many influential organisations still think of Fawcett when they want a women’s organisation perspective. They’re like the stonewall of the women’s charity world. They’ve shamefully sold out. Women still need their help. That includes everyone female who identifies as transmen or NB obviously. Why should we include men as beneficiaries of women’s organisations?

movingonup20 · 05/10/2020 09:43

Would love it, live near by and have worked in non profits for 20 years. I'm a professional fundraiser but more recently operations manager... what do you think, do I have a chance?

movingonup20 · 05/10/2020 09:44

I've worked with the homeless, but not abuse specifically (many female clients had experienced dv)

Go for it!
showmethegin · 05/10/2020 10:19

Absolutely go for it @movingonup20

Yes please, as many mumsnetters as possible please apply.

I think it has drifted into a vaguely equality type group.

Needs to focus on women's rights - which of course means being gender critical.

I wonder who the trustees are as presumably they are the ones who set the ethos.

Interesting that they aren't doing their own recruiting but have out sourced to a commercial company. Wonder what their EO application process is. Hmm

Another one to contrast

Director - Women for Refugee Women:

Women for Refugee Women is committed to diversity and inclusion in its workforce. We seek to attract applications from the widest possible talent pool and to appoint on ability irrespective of race, religion, age, disability (including hidden disabilities), marital/civil partnership status, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation. We particularly welcome applications from women with a refugee background with lived experience of the issues we are tackling who can lead and influence change for the women we serve.

While I'd hope they meant an actual woman (not "identifying as"), a lot of transactivists see the two as synonymous. I don't know how you'd be able to tell from a job application either.
