There's a piece on today:

God it sticks in my craw that Peto is described as a woman....

WootMoggie · 29/09/2020 08:06

They know that I’m sure - I think it’s deliberate trolling.

334bu · 29/09/2020 08:13

I don't think any listener will have any difficulty distinguishing the transwoman.
Wonder if there will actually be a debate as trans activists have previously refused to share a platform with GC women on this programme?

NeurotrashWarrior · 29/09/2020 10:40

I'm listening on catch up; JG put forward the POV of misogyny directed at women who've been trying to campaign for women's rights.,

HP trying to say "we're not accepted. "

Dr Nic setting it out straight in terms of self ID.

I'm being frequently toddlered so need to listen again later.

I listened but the sound was bad, did the interviewer Ms Garvy? Keep cutting the WPUK woman short on her answers ? And why do they devote such little time to the discussion. Drives me mad

NeurotrashWarrior · 29/09/2020 10:47

Grrr focussing on the needs of HP.

It's not the fault of women that transwomen receive sexual harassment from men.

JG did say "there's never enough time for that conversation and I'm sure we'll come back for it."

I'm thinking it may not be with JG!

Terrible sound quality when trying to listen to the interviewees, with the volume going up and down. This happens a lot on the BBC now. See the Today programme also.

What ever happened to the quality broadcasting - in more ways than one, I might add?

It was a poor show from Woman's Hour, with not enough time, and not enough challenge to the trans advocate. What evidence is there of the various assertions made? Other than a once-only fleeting acidic tone from Garvey in response to something, Peto was allowed to get away with a lot and to start and end the discussion. Williams was good but needed more time and space to rebut assertions and to highlight some other perspectives.

CornflakeMum · 29/09/2020 14:06

To be honest, I think Peto dug her own hole, especially when she started going on about the sexual harassment she had suffered and how awful everything is for transwomen etc.

Nicola was calm and sensible and clear (if not great audio unfortunately).

I wonder what Jane Garvey REALLY thinks? I do think she could have done a better job of giving both speakers (I'm not going to say women) the same amount of time, I've heard JG comment before about how restricted they are about covering this subject on the BBC.

Angryresister · 29/09/2020 14:17

Let alone the emails. See other thread. Spitting feathers over the person with a feminine name whining on about how they couldn’t express their femininity. How this related in any way to the discussion on GRA is anyone’s guess.

WPUK disagrees. I thought the speakers respectfully disagreed.

NeurotrashWarrior · 29/09/2020 22:24

Didn't see the other thread sorry; linking as the amazing pombear has transcribed.

I thought it was a bit HP V whole of women kind. And thus a bit navel gazing.

It really doesn't help when TW have no recognition of what women have gone through for millennia.

It's so much easier to respect someone who does.

WH have done better but without a live debate. Maybe they felt their hands were tied as it was live?

You wouldn't know from the other thread title what the topic was or what date. I saw it on this thread, so posted here.
