I think I just heard that Lisa Nandy will be on and one of the topics will be trans rights. Questions can be emailed in.

I know it won't matter to many, but my question Ive emailed in is about sport. So many records are now going to trans women, in weight lifting for example.
Why are we allowing female sport to be eroded? Breaks my heart.
They'll roll out that the testosterone levels are within limits, but there's SO much more to our physiological differences than that.

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/09/2020 17:41

Sport would be a good one.

agree 100% with this

I have been a woman for the last 30 wish years, before that I was a girl

I now find myself referred to as a person with a uterus (fortunately I still have one) but never hear about people with a penis - why is this?

if we get rid of the term woman then surely men and man has to also be discarded

TeenPlusTwenties · 25/09/2020 18:31

Questions are better if they are simple and not too niche.

e.g. 'is the panel happy that following Liz Trusses announcement on the review of the GRA, that women's singe sex spaces and sport will now be properly protected?'

or 'if an I heart JKR poster is removed for being 'too political' how can it be justified to arrest someone protesting to save women's sex rights for not being political' (or whatever, but this is probably 'too niche')

or 'How can advertisements for cervical smears justify not mentioning the word women?'

or 'Now that the review of the GRA has recognised that sex based needs exist, can advertisements for cervical smears justify not mentioning the word women?'

TeenPlusTwenties · 25/09/2020 18:35

.. Could have a question about whether the panel is unequivocal that safeguarding of children is more important than other's 'gender identity'

wellbehavedwomen · 25/09/2020 18:42

@OhHolyJesus

I haven't heard it yet but for the bingo can I suggest "what is needed is less heat and more light in this debate", seems to be her tag line.
I think it's the Labour front bench one; was trotted out by Wes Streeter in the past week as well. Nice thought-terminating cliche there, nestling in cosily with TWAW (when anyone asks about prisons, sports, shelters or communal changing/sleeping accomodation). Means they can sound kind/shut down an argument they can't win with fact...s and all without engaging with how one-sided the abuse and threats truly are, and how determined they are to allow no light on this subject whatsoever. Ask Karen Ingala-Smith, banned from Labour for shining a light on the impact for women in domestic violence refuges.
BoreOfWhabylon · 25/09/2020 18:46

I also started a thread about this. Remember, if you email a question in to include your phone number.

Also Any Answers on Radio 4 at 2pm tomorrow- callers email or call with comments about AQ.

yy Don’t forget Any Answers tomorrow- where you can call in and speak on air or email/text Shock

TorkTorkBam · 25/09/2020 19:07

Ooh, I am trying to think of a question along the lines of "Does the panel welcome the government's decision to reduce the cost and simplify the administration when a person with gender dysphoria seeks a gender recognition certificate?"

To be sensible a panelist would say yes they got what they said they wanted, how nice.

To appease TRAs they have to say no it is bad that there is medical gatekeeping and then that leads to more debate and shines a light on the batshittery.

To be full GC they would respond no need for the GRA any more anyway now we have same sex marriage and good anti-discrimination law.

Angryresister · 25/09/2020 19:27

Mine was whether now that women’s rights to sex protected spaces have been recognised ,whether they would agree that the GRA should now be repealed

QuiteGood · 25/09/2020 19:54

My money is on Lisa Nandy rolling out her well rehearsed, heartbreaking spiel about her one Trans resident who she’s fighting for. She will refer to her work around domestic violence without any consideration to those women’s lived experience or need for single sex spaces. I’ll also put a few cents on her wheeling out for her favourite line about this debate needing ‘more light and less heat.’

happydappy2 · 25/09/2020 20:34

Joanna Cherry is a legend!

SapphoJones · 25/09/2020 20:35

Joanna Cherry nailing it in response to the first question! Compassionate, reasonable, empathetic, but clear on the issues with a self-ID system. Thanks Joanna! And a second panel member agreeing with her too now.

crumpet · 25/09/2020 20:36

Yes - she very clearly articulated the issue (which is what I would expect from her!)

happydappy2 · 25/09/2020 20:36

Alexander Downer - I don't think you want the country convulsed with this, when we are in Covid-current legislation reasonable

Cuntysnark · 25/09/2020 20:36

1, 2, 3 bingo’s so far Lisa.

boatyardblues · 25/09/2020 20:36

Lisa 🙄

crumpet · 25/09/2020 20:37

And here is LN’s constituent...

persistentwoman · 25/09/2020 20:37

Bingo - Lisa Nandy talking about her one trans constituent - again.

TheShoesa · 25/09/2020 20:37

Less heat and more light

happydappy2 · 25/09/2020 20:38

Lisa Nandy....Gov't got it wrong-trans ppl let down-calm the dabate down-taken 3 yrs-getting the GRC is stigmatising, slow, expensive yada yada.

QuiteGood · 25/09/2020 20:39

Haha! Heat and light from Nandy. Her trans resident mentioned. Just missing her mention of domestic violence.

What’s this...? She’s never acknowledged barring trans women from single sex services before. Sounds exclusionary to me that. Wonder if the TRAs are going to cancel her!

PenguindreamsofDraco · 25/09/2020 20:40

So is LN doing this for a bet now? Like in GCSE German when we all challenged each other to get the word for hedgehog into our oral exam?
That's the only explanation, surely?

QuiteGood · 25/09/2020 20:40

We’re all psychic on here when it comes to Nandy’s thoughts.

JellyFishSquish · 25/09/2020 20:41

On my own on the other thread, you guys are horrid!! I got the Nandy trans constituent first!!
