If you can undermine the hard fought protections and legal wins of same-sex attracted people simply by redefining them to include heterosexuals who identify as gay, you are no friend to LGB people; you are the oppressor. When you demonise lesbians for refusing males no matter how they identify, you are more alike to incels and MRAs than Marxists.

If you are demanding that the sporting opportunities and competitions that women had to fight to establish now be “inclusive” male athletes who identify as women, you are the powerful taking from those who have little power. If you dismiss the health and safety concerns around males in female sport raised by medical, scientific, and legal experts, you are part of a long, long tradition of misogyny that has seen women’s safety relegated to bottom of the priority list.

Wokeism is performance. It is mostly educated, establishment youths LARPing the struggles of truly marginalised groups. It is time we stopped letting them pretend to be saviours when they’re just malignant power in a different outfit.

This is what baffles me most - how is that otherwise intelligent people keep loudly insisting that this is about THE MOST MARGINALISED. Since when have genuinely marginalised people wielded this amount of power?

She's got it spot on - how the woke go for the whole oppressed V oppressor binary but without any of the inconvenience of understanding the analysis of capitalism and patriarchy that goes with it and how those systems produce and reproduce that oppression.

I remember reading how the New Left in the 1960s ditched the proletariat in favour of identity politics, essentially because the educated upper middle class students who formed the New Left were bored and disappointed with the proletariat which they viewed as having failed to over throw capitalism successfully.

In that sense, the New Left could be seen to despise the working class in the same way as wokies today despise both the working class AND women - presumably because like the working class and capitalism, we have failed to over throw patriarchy and apparently the agent of the the day is the transactivist instead.

Only it turns out the transactivists dont actually want to overturn patriachy at all. They instead what to have a bizarre system where we make gender stereotypes fixed, essential and immutable, but get to pick which one we "identify" as. Still, a few good reasons this week to feel more optimistic about this all being seen for the nonsense it actually is

I have thought for some time that trans debate is not about trans issues. I know this is a bit conspiracy but the article has thrown this up for me again.

The left has been out of power since Tony Blair and the hard left has always resented that they haven't been able to govern. The only way the hard left can govern is to take over all the leavers of society without needing the vote. The TU's are all over the public sector hence the ease with which Police, Education, Civil Service, Local Government in Labour controlled areas.

There has been a lot of undermining government (I'm no conservative fan but I am a democrat) by decisions being taken away from parliament. Resistance etc. a lot of trying to undermine society which should result in a state of anarchy, by which time all the institutions will have been captured, including the armed services. Step in the Police, to quell and suddenly martial law.

More capture should have happened before we became aware.

I have to agree with her. Whole thread discussing a Twitter thread deleted on MN today. Because, one assumes, some Woke Bloke didn't like it.

We're being closed off from discussing issues like surrogacy because we're not allowed to name names (even if all over Twitter naming themselves) so that means we can't discuss actual examples.

MN is a great space for discussing Woke and its impact on women, but even here, speech is constrained.

Fully agree. When you have the police and other public bodies as well as big name corporations doing your bidding you are not oppressed and your acceptance into the establishment is complete
