Jo March, 'educating' (for want of the better word which would give me a strike) Times readers one by one.,

Thanks

Funnily enough, Louisa M. Alcott did publish her more sensationalist and lurid fictions anonymously. This was the kind of writing that she has her heroine in Little Women set aside once the Professor points out that it is corrupting.

She was canny that way. Smile

Winter I totally agree - I have been a Times reader and commenter for a couple of years, mostly on this issue, and I really think the level of knowledge and understanding of commenters has increased exponentially recently. I think it is partly to do with the Times writers like Janice Turner attracting people who are concerned by trans ideology, but also definitely down to Jo, Briz, Silverlady, flapjack and others constantly commenting and pointing people to external resources, real world examples, and making connections that aren’t being made in the articles themselves. I was blown away by the comments on James Kirkup’s article today - many, many people I haven’t seen before getting involved and speaking knowledgeably.

Cartimandua, however, is a loon, and Disgusted of Manchester can do one.

IHeartSusanDey · 16/09/2020 21:02

I'm just so impressed by women in general who are involved in this.

Women are amazing...and even though I understand patriarchy, rape culture, toxic masculinity and all that, I will never truly ever get how men can ever hate women. How can I feel so proud of women, so in love, and understand how other humans hate them?

WinterIsGone · 16/09/2020 21:12

StandUp I was trying to remember the name Cartimandua earlier. I've not seen them post since DofM started, so I assumed they were one and the same!

StandUpStraight · 16/09/2020 21:15

Winter I think that on balance, Cartimandua is more incoherent (though it’s a close run thing). Disgusted is just your ordinary garden variety misogynist who isn’t very bright but can see far enough to know that this trans stuff is a lovely opportunity to put the boot in to women. It’s a shame for him that he does it so badly.

Jo March MUST be on here, surely?

I agree that Cartimandua can indeed do one.

Melroses · 16/09/2020 21:46

There seems to be a contrary Cartimandua on every comment site sometimes.

StandUpStraight · 17/09/2020 08:04

They’re both back, this time on Janice Turner’s notebook. Janice effective as ever, this time taking exasperated/grimly amused aim at Jedward and the book burning.

I rarely get to see Disgusted’s posts—they’ve usually been deleted for breaking the guidelines by the time I arrive.

Jo March liked a comment of mine once and I went embarrassingly fangurrll about it.

Malahaha · 17/09/2020 08:26

I am always chuffed when Jo March likes my comments! Makes my day!
She is so articulate!

Flowers Thank you Jo. I am sure you are here -- you even mentioned MN in one of your recent Times comments....

Malahaha · 17/09/2020 08:33

@WinterIsGone

I am amazed that today's article in The Times has more than 750 comments, most of which are well-informed (and gender critical). The top comment alone (suggesting JKR receives an honour) received over 300 likes. Not so long ago, the subject would have been regarded as niche, and ignored by most people. What a turnaround! I feel a major part of this has been thanks to all of those Times readers who have bothered to comment, link and like on every story.

Love the idea that Jo Marsh is another famous writer... And as for Disgusted of Manchester... Grin

Winterisgone, or anyone, which article is that? Link please?
StandUpStraight · 17/09/2020 08:36

Yesterday’s article was this one: www.thetimes.co.uk/article/dabeb930-f784-11ea-ab7f-2d901a77c934?shareToken=86328e3227f2eca9e2181cd0613fd234

Malahaha · 17/09/2020 08:38

Oh no! That's not it, only 91 comments). So, help still needed! Times link?

CaraDuneRedux · 17/09/2020 08:39

Disgusted excelled (or undercelled) himself this morning. The stupid plonker launched into a "How very dare JT suggest that burning the books from the Sexualwissenschaft was a good thing? Doesn't she realise that was one of the primary sources of information on transgender individuals? Transphobe!!!"

I fear Disgusted must have been absent on the day his English teacher taught the class about irony. Disgusted of Manchester - the only person in the discussion able to make Jedward look intelligent! Grin

StandUpStraight · 17/09/2020 08:42

Malahaha the one with all the comments (still increasing) is the one I linked just above your last post.

Jocasta2018 · 17/09/2020 08:50

Love one of the article's comments about the Transiban!
Excellent name for a bunch of woman-hating misogynists & tying in nicely with the Fatwa that was issued after 'The Satanic Verses'...
Incidentally, my phone wanted to type 'misogynits' rather than 'misogynists'. If the latter weren't so damn violent, the former would be quite funny.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/09/2020 08:56

Incidentally, my phone wanted to type 'misogynits' rather than 'misogynists'. If the latter weren't so damn violent, the former would be quite funny.

The former maybe applies to the Benjamin Button types?

nonsenceagain · 17/09/2020 22:00

I love her ❤️

gardenbird48 · 17/09/2020 23:21

I like to have a little dig at DisgustedofManchester wherever possible Grin Jo March, Silverlady etc are tireless and brilliant.
