twnews.co.uk/gb-news/french-book-i-hate-men-sees-sales-boom-after-government-adviser-calls-for-ban

An extended essay phamplet advocating rediscovering the strength of female friendships and taking less account of mens views has seen sales soar after a male government official tried to have it banned over "incitement to hatred on the grounds of gender."

Someone should remind the idiot minister about Charlie Hebdo. Why is he trying to shut down freedom of speech? I'd wager several thousand euro that he would not have been leaping to condemn an essay entitled "I Hate Women".

Sure ForrestTrump, because jews have been oppressing gentiles just like men have been oppressing women since forever, right?

Sounds like this minister just read the title but not the book. I think anything that explores female anger will always incite fear amongst certain groups. How often have we heard personally and in the media women being told that their anger is disproportionate or invalid? This book sounds interesting and I hope they put it back on sale soon.

Funny how the actual things that men actually do to harm women every single day are just the inevitable natural order of things, and not hate.

A bit like how the mere mention of the difficultes navigating life living with trauma caused by men is now "weaponising abuse". This despite DV, rape etc being severely under reported.

ForrestTrump · 10/09/2020 02:06

I don't get why my comment was deleted.

Are we saying that it's ok to discriminate against some protected characteristics but not other ones? I'm against sexism whether it's against men or women.

Vast majority is against other men though.

No, that's men too. Islam doesn't oppress women, men do. Those ones could happen to be Muslim. But if you think Christian men or Buddhist men refrain from sexist ideology, you're sadly mistaken.

ForrestTrump · 10/09/2020 03:16

We're probably going to have to agree to disagree, but I've always believed that using one's own subjective beliefs as the barometer to decide who it's ok to discriminate against is pretty illogical.

TRAs would decide it's ok to discriminate against TERFs

MGTOW/MRA against women

Some Sikhs against Muslims

Some POC against Caucasians

And of course Feminists against men

Etc etc

Surely, it's better to just not discriminate against any demographic and tackle criminals as a society, which is generally what happens already to greater or lesser effect.

Could you get on with that please? Because pretty much every women I know has been sexually harassed or assaulted and the only person I know whose offender was even questioned was a male victim. Rape is basically legal. Sexual harassment is everywhere. Domestic violence kills women every week.

So while you're sorting that out, forgive me if I'm a little fucking peeved.

ForrestTrump · 10/09/2020 03:39

The low rate of conviction for rape is due to the necessary burden of proof. Short of abandoning due process or introducing chaperones, I can't see how this will change unless some technological innovation is developed to record evidence. It's horrible but there's no easy solution.

You're more likely to die from choking on your food than being murdered by a man, so I'm not sure what average blokes like me can do. In fact, I don't really get this tendency to lump all men together and make them responsible. The young gay student who gets battered in a homophobic attack isn't responsible for male violence because he shares his sex wirh his attacker - that's victim blaming. Same for the young black man who gets killed by a racist Caucasian police officer.

It feels like men are one of the only classes that get lumped into a homogenous mass. I certainly don't see many feminists on here taking responsibility for the lib fems whom are pushing for self ID, for example, despite them likely sharing more similarities in outlook than two totally random men.

ForrestTrump · 10/09/2020 03:42

I'd also wager that there are more men than women stepping up to sort it out. Men who put their lives at risk to tackle others whose crimes they are in no way responsible for.

Wow, this essay has really set some people off. Sounds like it might be interesting.

Cocothefirst · 10/09/2020 07:12

As they say, the clitoris has over 8,000 nerve endings but it's still not as sensitive as men on the internet.

I look forward to the day when openly expressing hatred of females on the internet is reduced to the same levels as directed at men. It would indeed be lovely if the "rules" were the same for everyone. You must be awfully busy on all the other websites calling out the misogyny. I am surprised you have time to pop over here to talk to the women
