So would I, if I lived in Scotland! I am Scottish, but haven't lived there since I was a child. All the rest of my family have moved back there, though, so I go up quite often (in non-Covid times). I am so proud of forwomen.Scot and forthright people like Joanna Cherry and Malcolm Clark. There are lots of other GC Scots I notice on Twitter.

Good thread, Malcolm. I can't believe an MP can get away with making up wild accusations about a grassroots campaigning group. He tried to sic the polis on them?! Actually unbelievable- I would have thought actionable, too. If that isn't a hate crime, what is?

Wow.... Has Humza Yousaf only just realised the grave implications of his Bill? It's not even reached Stage 1 yet and there's backpedaling?

The SNP, like all nationalist parties, are control freaks. The Nazis were the perfect example.
The SNP centralise power, starve local authorities of funding, issue propaganda and censor free speech. Their record in office, on the economy, education and health is abysmal. But they spin the facts with blatant lies. Scotland is the third worst in Europe at managing Covid, but this is presented as a success story.
Under this hate crime bill, nobody will be allowed to criticise the party- it would be “stirring up hatred”.
As collateral damage, we will not be allowed to fight the erasure of women’s rights - any TRA can simply claim they are “offended” and we will face a 7 year prison sentence. This applies even though there is no intent to give offence - the bill is all based on the accuser’s perception of it.
I despair at what is happening in Scotland- how can SNP supporters be so blind or stupid as to vote for their own repression?

I'm glad that there has at least been widespread condemnation of this bill and will be, I expect, much scrutiny of it. Hopefully it will be scrapped, or at least much amended.

Irritating that so much time and money is wasted on stupid exercises like this. The price of freedom, as they say ...
