I haven’t read anything else by her but I’m aware she’s won awards.
I found the description of how some of the women turned blindly to support the idea that reality was no longer true (ie normal women like them were “witches”) scarily current. And Maren’s mother crying with the realisation and regret that they’d (she’d) gone too far in feeding men’s desires at the expense of women quite expected..and heartbreaking.
I have wondered if it is a total fluke that the author decided to write on this topic in current atmosphere. Cancel culture and wokeness aren’t just 2020 phenomena...
