Louis CK comeback being supported by female comedians

Sarah Silverman, Michelle Wolf, Tiffany Haddish all posed for photos with Louis CK at a recent Dave Chappelle comedy show. Dave's support of Louis is just as awful, but it's been known for a while. To have three prominent female comics seemingly support him is disgusting.

He’s a creep, obviously. But should that mean he can’t ever work again? Certainly fine to keep boycotting him And saying he’s a creep, of course - that’s anyone’s prerogative.

For my part I appreciate that he acknowledged he did everything accused of, Apologized to women directly, talked about how disgusting his behavior was, and took quite a lot of time out of the spotlight. He had some things to say about men who Want to be feminist allies, but still being a creep sexually on the side and how fucked up that is.

To be honest I was chagrined when his gross sexual behavior was revealed but it was not particularly surprising given what he says in his comedy about for example how incredible it is that women have anything to do with men.

I guess I don’t know that we should say “once a creep forever unemployable.” I’d like to hear from his victims more however.

If Bill from accounting got his dick out repeatedly at various workplaces, he'd be pretty much unemployable as an accountant ever again. How will comedy clubs or producers guarantee the safety of female employees around him?

It wasn't once or twice. He was a serial predator over many years. Women were blacklisted and lost their careers for complaining about him.

I’m perfectly happy with abusers and creeps being unemployable for the rest of their lives.

Their victims will have the memories for the rest of their lives.

Do you guys think for example that rapists should not be able to work after done serving prison?

HJ372 · 10/08/2020 22:16

There are posters on here who believe pedos have the right to live a peaceful life after they've served their sentences as well. So some of the replies here don't surprise me.

I don't think he should be able to just come back to comedy and carry on as before.

It’s not really the same as leading a highly privileged lifestyle as a celebrity comedian. He can go get a job.

Chapelle’s support is entirely unsurprising, given he did a Netflix stand up special for which the overall punchline was excusing Bill Cosby.

CourtneyLurve · 10/08/2020 22:24

Within a year of his apology he was back making surprise appearances at clubs, where female employees had not been forewarned nor had any provisions been made for their safety. His experience is now 'new material', while the women he had blacklisted lost their careers and retain the trauma of his assault.

He should not be able to return to the same lucrative, privileged career he so casually used to hurt women.

I think that’s fair. I would like to hear more from the blacklisted women too.

You’re right, He can get a job elsewhere probably even behind the scenes in comedy, or just in some other job. He’s got no record.

but is that really better? I can’t see that the risk of him reoffending would be any less - it would just be different women probably women with less power than his other victims. At least in the public eye it’s possible to keep an eye on him.

No one is under any obligation to purchase his comedy. It is sad that enough people are willing to overlook it to make him a profitable act.

I’m assuming you mean people who committed child sexual assault.

What do you think should be done with them? Personally I think chemical castration isn’t a bad idea - at least as an option Offered. Plus monitoring. Not sure if that qualifies as “live a peaceful life”?

RadicalFern · 10/08/2020 22:40

He can work. There are all sorts of jobs he can do. He doesn't deserve to be allowed to do the job he wants to and be back in a well paid position of influence just because he's said sorry and he really really wants to.

Wishful thinking, but no.
