Trolls targetting Hibo Wadere - MGM is as bad as FGM, if not worse

Hibo Wardere is being trolled and reported for 'only' campaigning against FGM.

It's discrimination, apparently.

Boys have it much worse according to @SimonPopeDK and others.

I've just reported him... what a bastard I just reported teh entire account for harassment.

He has all of 60 followers. Our family cat (account courtesy of DS) has more followers on Instagram.

This is the whole of the problem in a nutshell. I am not going to campaign myself for the problem I see, I am going to make you change your campaign to include mine.

Hibo has been under pressure for the last couple of weeks or so. They wanted her to stop calling it Female Genital Mutilation and just call it Genital Mutilation.

Do they not realise they would absolutely have everyone's support if they set up campaigns and awareness of the subject themselves.

I dont tbink I know anyone that wouldn't be against non medical circumcision. You only have to look on the threads about it on MN to see what people think.

But set up your own. Stop doing nothing then having a go at people who do something about something else that isn't what you want.

Several people have asked where his campaign is, but he hasn't answered except to call them names.

I dunno I mean I can think of a public parent who seems.oddly encouraging of their adult child's clearly fraudulent and predatory lifestyle . Wouldnt bank on them being particularly bothered.

I dont think anyone wakes up one day and decides to be an arsehole. Its a collection of teeny tiny messages from birth that all add up to this overwhelming sense of hatred towards women, male entitlement and self absorption.

I think we see the beginnings of it on here sometimes. I'm some instances ita seen and Parents are keen to fix the issues. Other times they don't see a problem with allowing their children to override boundaries etc

For someone who has tweeted over 11k times very few people have been interested enough to follow him.

How would that happen? Is it because twitter's system is largely automated so that one bad-faith actor can just report multiple tweets until they hit an automatic trigger for getting someone's account suspended?

Or is it because when there is human intervention in making decisions about twitter reports, it tends to be insanely, institutionally misogynistic?

It must be misogyny at the root, I think. The "How dare you centre the girls?" whataboutism and the demands for boys and men to be centred by everyone is very MRA/InCel in its feel.

And misogyny is learned from other males on the family. Apples and trees... It's sad and distressing, but if he gathers himself and starts a campaign others can get behind, there is hope for him. It's just that it takes a lot more focus and energy to build something than to tear down something built by others' efforts.

I look forward to seeing what this young man constructs and how it impacts on the issue he has chosen to centre.

On a deeper look, he's involved with a Danish movement campaigning for all Danes to have rights over their own genitals, but it's not clear whether he's leading the movement or supporting it or just following. I know some people rate following and re-tweeting as support but I would need to do more than that before calling myself a supporter.

I don't get - at all - how he squares claiming ant-FGM activists like Hibo Wardere are 'undetmining' the Danish campaign, or that it's sexist to centre girls. 🤷🏼‍♀️
