Gender critical isn't "white feminism" - Allison Bailey tweet

Allison Bailey @BluskyeAllison

Happy Monday everyone. So, when the usual suspects spout their usual nonsense about the gender critical movement in the UK being an extension of white feminism etc, remind them that every key case before the courts right now is being brought by women of colour.

Now consider the key names who denounce “white feminism” & champion trans politics. White men. Every last one of them. It would be funny if it wasn’t so expletive, expletive...

Yes, she's right. I'm fed up people (wokey blokies, trans women and their allies) saying it's white privileged women who are gender critical, except we are called transphobes instead.

It's just another way of putting women down and diverting the conversation or shutting down the conversation.

"White feminism" has just become a way of dismissing anything you disagree with, or don't like for whatever reason.

"White men, every last one of them"
There are a lot of older white men, sportsmen, etc who are not supporting trans rights.
There are black men who are supporting them.
Please do not make this a race issue.

Andy I agree it's not just white men but I agree with Allison Bailey that there is an awful lot of accusations of being privileged white "cis" women.

I know, it must be very frustrating for all concerned. It will be women who will be negatively affected by any changes to the GRA, if transgender people are allowed even more access to women's spaces.
I should point out, that there are a lot of younger women who support the whole trans rights thing, I cannot fathom why, maybe peer pressure?

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons

Sorry about duplicating an existing thread.

Have now realised that I dont always understand how some threads are titled. It's like there's a secret language that some mumsnetters get and others dont - especially when they have a sort of joke as part of it!
