Allison Bailey calls out TRAs racism and hypocrisy

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned on here yet, but saw these two tweets this morning by Allison Bailey, and it really says it all doesn’t it.

White men shouting down women of colour by accusing them of white feminism.
And these men are somehow the victims.

Beggars belief, doesn’t it

Allison Bailey calls out TRAs racism and hypocrisy

I saw that earlier. She's such an inspiration. Unfortunately, a beard will probably still come along and tell her off for oppressing the most marginalised group in society and will do it without a hint of irony.

aliasundercover · 03/08/2020 12:24

Alison Bailey nails it again.

I’m sure the woke-bro behind the mask in this clip must be Owen Jones:

Allison is an absolute star. Not LGB but have joined the Alliance. Suggest others join, numbers matter

severnboring · 03/08/2020 12:44

Very important point made by Allison. (To nitpick, it's almost every case as there's also the brave Katie Alcock).

Also, look at the nature of the cases - individual women of colour taking on rich and powerful institutions David and Goliath style and refusing to be bullied. (And then, for Allison, being actively hindered by the organisation, Crowdjustice, that was supposedly set up to facilitate the Davids).

Whereas when TRAs go to court, they target everyday, non-rich, non-powerful individual women and transexual males, with the police and CPS behind them.

Binterested · 03/08/2020 12:51

This is a good point. I wouldn’t have known the ethnicity of some of those names so it’s good to have it underlined. This is a witch hunt.

Aesopfable · 03/08/2020 12:55

Also Harry’s case

Clymene · 03/08/2020 13:00

Someone I follow on twitter linked to this brilliant article by Raquel Rosario Sanchez which absolutely nails the privilege and racism at the heart of gender ideology: www.feministcurrent.com/2017/07/26/white-feminism-thing-gender-identity-ideology-epitomizes/

BaronEssoStation · 03/08/2020 14:14

It was brilliant. Thank you Clymene.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 03/08/2020 14:44

Woah, I hadn't actually noticed that until now. And the main people shouting them down are white males, I expect?

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 03/08/2020 14:57

I donated to LGB Alliance, I think they need to be heard. Even sent my teen who knows all and thinks she's so woke to read and support Allison.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 03/08/2020 15:08

I hadn't realised how many of those targeted by transactivists are women of colour. But I can imagine why. Attackers who think women are defenceless may well consider a woman of colour to be even more vulnerable, with fewer resources and less chance of rallying others to her defence.

What a nasty shock they are getting.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 03/08/2020 15:15

Do you think that's why TRAs are targetting women of colour? They see them as soft targets?

skql · 03/08/2020 15:24

Do you think that's why TRAs are targetting women of colour? They see them as soft targets?

my think

"wrong kind of coloured person"
woke-people can't accept actually poc is a individual so poc have different political view from them.

and they know in oppressed pyramid, they clam 'being more oppressed' than poc woman. but poc woman has weakness.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 03/08/2020 15:32

Not sure whether they're seen as targets ScrimpshawTheSecond ?
I see it more as racism (alongside misogyny) at the heart of the TRA movement.
All the work done in the last 30 plus years to ensure access and inclusion of women and girls from different faiths / BAME communities by enabling female single sex activities and spaces, use of clear accessible language and by challenging a white middle class centric approach. Then suddenly this white middle aged male dominated ideology powers in and removes all of it in order to centre said white middle aged males at the heart of everything women centred. And nobody dares challenge them - and they have no interest or care for vulnerable women / groups.

ItsLateHumpty · 03/08/2020 15:34

Allison Bailey is all blood, and heart, and guts. She is incandescent!

As for why TRAs are targetting women of colour, I think it’s because (in their argument) black women are women like trans women are women, like tall women are women. So if they can excommunicate all and any noisy (tall, or black, or blah) women, they can then discount all and every woman with a shared characteristic.

Lazy, thought terminating, argument through language.

Binterested · 03/08/2020 15:39

Are black women less inclined to be libfem perhaps ? Not giving any quarter to oppression wherever they find it because they know they are not acknowledged as fully human on any axis of oppression so might as well stand up and fight ? Sorry to sound like a sociology textbook Grin

It’s an interesting point Allison has made and I’d love to hear her thoughts.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 03/08/2020 16:40

That’s interesting Binterested
like the reverse of the racist person being more likely to be sexist as if you can dehumanise one group of people you can transfer the “skill” to a different group?

Alison is fantastic

Siablue · 03/08/2020 16:56

I also noticed this too. Alison is brilliant. I think that they get a lot of support for white women who are privileged and feel guilty about that.

Their most oppressed rubbish works less on people who are actually oppressed (see also the targeting of domestic abuse survivors). You can see that the strategies they are using are abusive and straight out of the oppressors handbook.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 03/08/2020 17:00

(in their argument) black women are women like trans women are women, like tall women are women.

Because they are operating from a default setting of 'white', perhaps? I'm sure I saw this argument set out very eloquently somewhere at some point, can't remember where ...

Ohfredcomeon · 03/08/2020 17:03

She’s fucking amazing!

Clymene · 03/08/2020 17:46

I think there's s something in that Binterested

Lipstick Alley calls itself 'the internet's largest African American forum' and has a membership of thousands. It is decidedly gender critical, even though that isn't its primary focus. I cannot imagine a forum aimed at younger white women following the same path.

I have lost count of the number of groups I've been kicked out of for expressing gender critical views!

NiceGerbil · 03/08/2020 20:21

I would say it's because of pecking order.

Women are lower down the scale than men and so non compliance with what men want is an affront

When the women not complying are black that is a double affront as they are even lower in the pecking order.

Most of this is about men being outraged when lesser beings have the temerity to speak back.

Winesalot · 03/08/2020 20:57

It was great to see Alison’s tweet this morning. I have just come across this one as well from Marie Lagouste. A powerful rebuttal of just another article reviling Joanne Rowling (and any other woman who stands up for women’s rights).
