Googling for something else I found this article
www.google.com/amp/s/www.gminsights.com/industry-analysis/sex-reassignment-surgery-market/amp
I'm properly shocked by it. Transgender surgery as a growing market, and a report presumably to help companies exploit that market. Bleurgh.

I don't know enough about Big Pharma to have a definite position on the idea, but transition sex hormones are the holy grail of medication - as in needed daily for the rest of your life....and possibly from childhood...

I was quite surprised that Germany was the leading European country for transition surgery.
The promotion and acceptance of surgical solutions for gender dysphoria is very alarming over the last decade - especially when backed by large well-funded pressure groups advocating for it.

"transition sex hormones" are the same drugs as used in HRT for menopausal women. Nothing new or expensive (about £1 a day, IME), and anyway trans people are a tiny market (about 1%, not all of whom transition) Not much of a 'holy grail' really.

If 'Big Pharma' is your concern, then look into Insulin. About 10% of the adult population are diabetic.

£1 a day adds up to a lot when you are prescribing to millions. I have issues with the readiness to prescribe hormones to women too, mainlybecause I think it unnecessarily medicalises normal female experiences and also because of the impact of excreted hormones on the environment.

"Big pharma" are obviously interested enough in this for a company to do market research of the growing market and charge £5k a pop.

I don't think incentives to "sell" transition are ever a good idea but we all know it happens. See women being encouraged to use Mirena for everything as GPs get paid for installing them.

About 10% of the adult population are diabetic.

6% in the UK, the 10% figure is for the USA and globally it's about 8.5%.

Diabetes has been treated medically for decades.

Gender dysphoria in children has not.

Diabetes has an actual medical cause. Diabetes is not something that suddenly and swiftly impacts groups of teenage girls who spend a lot of time online soaking up propaganda. For example.

You'd have to be wilfully ignorant to pretend that there isn't a benefit to those carrying out sex reassignment/'gender affirmation' surgeries when gender ideology is on the increase the way that it has been the past decade.
