Anyone else had the YouGov poll on GRA and Stonewall stats ?

Received yesterday.

A basic tick box poll on current GRA features for legal GRC and whether they should stay / are reasonable.

And then a load of questions around Stonewall statistical assertions with answers to be inserted onto a sliding percentage scale.

Sample : "According to Stonewall what percentage of transgender people have attempted suicide "

More questions followed on Stonewall figures on transgender self-harm, loss of job, hate crimes etc etc.

Can't work out whether the survey was to assess feelings about Stonewalls credibility or to inform a huge PR campaign they intend to run.
I answered the survey seriously but added some pithy comments in the end box !!!

i would guess to either inform a huge PR campaign or if they new CEO has some level of sanity, to see whether people are really buying what they say.

they know they're losing ground - if i were them id want to know what people geninely think as opposed to what they're being shouted at to say

however they have been stone deaf in the past so it coud just as easily be a big PR camapign to pressure the government on the GRA

So, was there room for you to say "47%, but that's bollocks"?

ancientoak · 24/07/2020 09:51

No - just asked for my knowledge of what the Stonewall stats were. I put your comment in the box at the end of the survey.

I wonder whether this links to the Fair Cop Twitter (another thread running)?

ancientoak - that's really interesting. I was complaining only the other day that I signed up to YouGov for the politics and I NEVER get them.

I think that's because I am old!

Would have been interested to do the survey, and there is usually a comment box at the end to say what you think about the survey.

One of which would be was there any option in the questions for people to say I dont know anything about this other than a lot of fuss on twitter so cant answer it properly.

How can you answer a survey like that unless you have for some reason - like FWR - been following the debate and campaigning.

I might contact YouGov and ask why I didn't get the survey.

stumbledin · 24/07/2020 15:06

Well I've posted a query.

Does seem strange as they have only just done a survey for Stonewall - and this is the resulting article yougov.co.uk/topics/politics/articles-reports/2020/07/16/where-does-british-public-stand-transgender-rights

Notice at the end of the graph the response to access for trans people who have not had re-assignment surgery is quite different to just asking should they have access.

But even more interesting that YouGov did not ask the question about access to refuges if there had been no surgery. I wonder why the omitted that. Suspect Stonewall didn't want to know.

I am VERY OLD !! ( hence the user name)
The questions on the link you posted were NOT the questions I answered this morning so it appears as if it might be a newer survey.

I answered specific questions on conditions around the granting of a GRC and then a load of questions around Stonewall stats.

Do you think they just keep going until they get the answers they want ?
