I assume the original - now removed - thread was about this story by James Kirkup. Did the original thread quote too much or something?

Anyway, this is well worth the read:

Around the time of BLM protests, the BBC headline was '27 police officers injured in a largely peaceful protest' - a classic example of Doublespeak.

Granted that I have a serious case of gallows humor in general, but that made me laugh when I read it. I mean, honestly, how stupid do they think their readers are? If they're going to do propaganda you'd think they could display a bit more skill at it.

The BBC coverage of the ‘27 officers injured in largely peaceful protests‘ really did remind me of the MSNBC coverage of the ‘not unruly’ protests in Minneapolis. Maybe they took their inspiration from this.

I have decided I am not going to let this one go as far as the BBC is concerned. If they dismiss my complaint I will take it to Ofcom.

It’s hard enough to get their bloody news app to work with VoiceOver as it is. I don’t think it’s too much to expect that the information will be factually accurate.
