Fecking gender on school forms

Dd2 starts high school in September. The usual forms are now online. For her sister I was able to cross out gender and write sex as it was a paper form. The online system wants to know "gender assigned at birth" and as it is a required field then I can't fill in the rest of the form until this is filled in. I have emailed school to explain that she did not have her gender assigned at birth but had her sex observed. She does not have a gender identify but has a biological sex. They are a pretty woke school with mixed sex toilets and pride flags flying from every building. It is an excellent school otherwise I would have sent her to the Catholic one that doesn't engage in this nonsense. This pisses me off so much.

Will the school even be able to comment on this or change the form? Presumably it's been signed off that this is how they want to word the question on the form. This might not be the right school for you but how does your daughter feel about it?

OP just send her to the Catholic school, at least they are open and honest about their mysogony. Sounds like a better bet.
Dd's school tried the GN toilets thing and then locked the girls to make them use it. I spoke to them (text so I had it written) and said I was requesting that single sex toilets are open during school hours in line with the law. All loos suddenly opened.

@Aesopfable

I think you should maybe do some reading on gender. your child will thank you for it

Isn’t it strange but when people do read up on gender ideology they realise quite what sexist misogynistic clap trap it all is?

Completely. Reading up on this is why most of us moved from being supportive to being in opposition to replacing sex with gender. Because the evidence is clear that it harms women.

That is horrifying. Coercing girls into surrendering their boundaries and privacy, in contravention of the law. How dare they. And good for you for countering so effectively.

I'm hoping against hope that single sex spaces are strengthened, and clarity provided, with the announcement this week. I'm all for additional support for the trans community - just not with our own being erased wholesale, in order to provide it.

The head of year has been in touch and they are looking to change the wording on the form. The HOY is well aware of my views on their inclusivity that excludes girls and I see this as a positive step.

All dc attend/ed an RC primary and there has not been any issues with misogyny from the school. I appreciate religion is terrible for misogyny in general but the school is very much based on equality. Just without all the woke nonsense that secondaries engage in.

They have changed gender to sex on the form! There is a note to inform the school if your child does not identify with their birth sex. A significant victory in my view.

In breaking news, common sense has recently been spotted in....

Well done Bercows.
And well handled by the school- a child who has a different gender will need support, so better to have that clarified at the get-go.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 24/07/2020 13:50

Good work Bercows Wine
