She is laying into Mermaids, and pleading with Liz Truss to sort this out:

"This is now clearly a national emergency. We cannot as a society allow our most vulnerable girls & women to be at the mercy of an ideological position that turns its face to all criticism. Please act now as a matter of urgency

This is not a scandal that is waiting to happen. We are all the way there. The scandal is being played out. Those in receipt of government funds, charitable exemption & the goodwill of the British public have shown themselves to be wholly unfit. You must act now. I beg you.

Yes! The Mermaids tweet makes it clear that they’re not interested in supporting trans children, they’re interested in converting them. They’re not a charity they’re a lobby group.

Winesalot · 12/07/2020 22:37

She has it right. And yes, there needs to be a great support group but mermaids is too heavily involved in lobbying and politicizing to be providing the unbiased support needed.

Allison 👏👏👏👏

deepwatersolo · 13/07/2020 06:03

Very true. From an organization dedicated to the wellbeing of kids (or at least is professional enough to fake it) you‘d expect something along the lines of „important article... Mermaids is dedicated to helping all kids find their path... highest standards to prevent transition of kids who regret it“ and there they would then slip in „which is rare thanks to the high standards we and other orgs in the field subscribe to...“ That‘s how they‘d respond (no matter how big the lie), if they had a professional attitude and self awareness.

Allison, if you're reading this, thank you for your courage.

She is amazing, courage calls to courage everywhere.

I've never understood why the head and board of a charity which advises goverment and institutions are parents, not medics, psychologists or any sort of qualified expert, have so much clout and influence.

They can be experts in their own family experiences, of course. But, having listened to Nicky Clark's interview with Susie Green, I'm not convinced that she is an expert even in that. www.spreaker.com/user/nickyclark/susie-green_1

Snog · 13/07/2020 09:18

I thought this was about Alison Bailey from The Affair....

happydappy2 · 13/07/2020 10:31

Mermaids & Stonewall shouldn’t receive a penny more from government, they have lost all credibility. Susie Green is on very thin ice to not personally halt the work she carries out.

Which department authorises their funding? Who do we write to?
