Roderic O Gorman has a tweet from 2018 showing him looking very happy to be with PT at Dublin Pride. I am writing to my local TD as well as opposition Party members to question his support of such a person.
Any Irish person want to follow suit?

Jesus. Funny how alcohol and voting isn't allowed till 18. Are tattoos legal before 18? You can't vote but you're mature enough to make life altering decisions that might sterilise you, remove healthy body parts, commit you to taking hormones for the rest of your life etc.

Apileofballyhoo · 10/07/2020 11:52

Dunno what age you can get married in Ireland either. Fucking hell.

EarlofEggMcMuffin · 10/07/2020 16:04

Have to be 18 (heterosexual or same sex marriage) to get married in Ireland with min 3 months notice.

Age of sexual consent is 17.

Interestingly, this tattoo business states " Surprisingly, in Ireland, there is no minimum legal age for getting a tattoo. However, giving someone under the age of consent (17 years old) a body modification without parental consent is considered an act of sexual aggression – (as you have skin contact) ".

Age of medical consent is 16; and it's a grey area between 16-18 if you refuse medical intervention.

Apileofballyhoo · 10/07/2020 16:09

Well marriage is reversible. This is all such a load of bollocks.

classicspring · 10/07/2020 17:32

I was talking with some colleagues (all mid thirty) at work about this during the week. They looked at me as if I was crazy. I think they thought I was becoming a conspiracy theoristGrin

People are completely unaware of what is happening as media attention has largely ignored the issue. But when you see what is happening in the UK it is very worrying
For example, the pronouns at work thread or the self ID woman vacancy in a rape crisis centre thread.Nobody would believe these things could really happen but they are.

If you are looking for detailed but shocking info on this story read the property pin - I kid you not. Someone on there has done huge research. It is mind blowing and very scary. Also in despair at Simon Coveny tweeting his support for Roderic against the homophobic attack 🙄🙄🙄🙄 there really isn’t room for the swivel of my eyeballs at that one.

It is sickening how these clever sociopaths are using the imbeciles we have elected - and I include all the Wokus Dei who voted in 2015 - to overthrow the protections we have so recently attained for our children and for women on this sad little island.

7Days · 11/07/2020 01:31

What's the property pin?

Annasgirl · 11/07/2020 07:12

An Irish property website - that’s what it’s come to!!!! It’s all one word.

GreenJumpers · 11/07/2020 09:48

How will I find this article on the Property Pin? Is there a link?

Apileofballyhoo · 11/07/2020 22:19

I might sign up. I find boards.ie and politics.ie hard to trawl through. Askaboutmoney is great but it really is mainly askaboutmoney...

Apileofballyhoo · 11/07/2020 23:31

Well that was hard going. Seems the only parties that are concerned for children are the right wing Catholic types. I'm not sure which TDs to tackle.

Apileofballyhoo · 12/07/2020 12:05

politics.ie/threads/ogorman-says-children-under-16-should-be-able-to-change-their-gender.276881/

Reading this one at the moment.

JackiFazaki · 12/07/2020 21:40

Imnobody4 Thank you for the link.
I've a great regard for John Connors, and more so now, reading what he had to say. I'm heartened to see the turn out in Dublin.

The first thing he tackles when he becomes minister for children, the most important thing he says is for children to have access to sexual transitional therapy, that's the first thing, not end child poverty in Ireland, not end child homeless in Ireland , he didn't say I'm going to make sure that children are not living in a hostel, they're not going to be living in a hotel or parks or in tents, no they have easier access to an operation that's very serious and irreversible and that's why Roderic o'gorman is not fit to be minister for children

Annasgirl · 12/07/2020 22:14

I would not advise anybody to look to politics.ie for informed debate on feminism or women’s rights or transgender - you might as well be on Reddit with the number of TRAs on there.

Apileofballyhoo · 12/07/2020 23:16

Well politics.ie banned all discussion of Roderic and Peter as far as I can figure out. Tells everything really.

But I'm very wary of anything that seems racist, homophobic or pro life either, or against any kind of sex ed for kids.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 14/07/2020 11:31

I don't think this has been posted yet?

It popped up on my twitter feed today. At about 3;30 onwards Tatchell discusses how some children have consensual non harmful sex with adults.

RoyalCorgi · 14/07/2020 11:45

That video is very alarming, ItsAllGoingToBeFine.

And it's part of a pattern - this video, the letter to the Guardian, the book chapter, the interview with the 14-year old on his website. Also let's not forget the fulsome obituary he wrote of gay rights campaigner Ian Dunn:

www.independent.co.uk/news/obituaries/obituary-ian-dunn-1151494.html

Dunn was also a co-founder of the Paedophile Information Exchange. Tatchell claims not to have known that when he wrote the obituary, just as he claimed the Guardian letter was edited, but frankly, it's a funny coincidence, isn't it?

And this is a man who's trying to influence schools to teach children about masturbation in RSE lessons.

Collidascope · 14/07/2020 11:52

A nine year old. Bloody hell, that's horrible.

SallyArmley · 14/07/2020 12:00

Is that from 2015? ItsAllGoingToBeFine?
If that's so, then hardly the 1970's, as his supporters are prone to suggest.

RoyalCorgi · 14/07/2020 12:18

I think it is from 2015 - he looks quite old there.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 14/07/2020 12:30

I think 2015, the website which created the video use here:

thelachatupdate.com/2015/12/14/lgb-no-platforms-guest-speaker/

Imnobody4 · 14/07/2020 12:36

Peter Tatchell has become a deeply sinister figure. He uses such a rational, calm presentation to twist notions of freedom and consent into a full on attack on safeguarding. That video is chilling.

Bananabixfloof · 14/07/2020 15:43

He says a nine year old was ok with sex? Wtf.
Has he even heard of grooming. No one in my life would think a nine year old capable of choosing to have sex. Ffs

Also the man was 50 when he told this tale, so it's ok to let children have sex cos ya know they probably wont regret it, indeed even like it and be completely unaware of any grooming, also maybe even at 50 years old the man felt some shame at this abuse (and it is still abuse even if he truly was ok with it) and to cover the shame and make himself feel better about what happened, he made the narrative that he wasnt groomed and he liked the sex.

All the usual things that abused children do in fact.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 16/07/2020 08:49

This popped up in my twitter feed today:

gript.ie/peter_tatchell_see_no_evil/

I have no idea who gript are ,.or of their credentials but they seem to have done a fairly forensic examination of Tatchells words on the issue, both spoken and written, and have also spoken to Tatchell himself.

The piece is carefully neutral and unemotional, but makes concerning reading.
