I’ve just been watching this Some sobering figures and info about how women are being treated during the pandemic.

Are we talking about people who identify as women?

Or is there some mysterious factor that links together all the people actually sucking up this disadvantage that makes them all into one class?

Language and what bits of reality we're allowed to mention without being screamed at gets steadily more confusing.

I have to disagree with the conclusions drawn here. I am from one of the said countries. There’s no issue of women not being believed when they are sick or being denied access to medication - covid disproportionately effects men. There were reports of 70% of ICU patients being men in the UK. The same is happening else where. Secondly it’s an issue of poverty. And unfortunately I imagine there are more women living in poverty than men. There’s generally poverty, but then things like men not sharing the little they make with their wife etc. Spending it on narcotics and womanising. Lastly, at least in my country - there’s defo a culture of women repressing and hiding illness.

I like dr John Campbell. But he has a very 1960s view of the developing world. In one video he said Kenya has a 30% HIV rate - not even close. I let it pass ... he’s an old man and it’s likely coming form a place of ignorance than of malice.

He takes a button and sews a coat on it.

Less women are getting infected in Mexico too. Yes, more women are care workers, but care workers are not the only people having to go out and about. I frankly lost interest when I saw the flimsy evidence he is using for sweeping statements about countries he obviously doesn't know. I don't have first hand experience of any of the countries he is referring to, but some Muslim men take charge of the family shopping, so that one possible explanation, among millions.

The figures regarding domestic violence & FGM are very sobering.
