Left wing men and women as public property for all men

This is a couple of days old but I don't think it's been raised here.

The "organisers" of CHAZ in Seattle published details of their "conflict resolution advisory council" in a series of reddit posts that were screen captured and tweeted about:

twitter.com/adamscrabble/status/1272294178983219202

After a series of edits that would have been too ridiculous for a Monty Python sketch, they get down to Edit 9:

Some women have expressed to us that they wouldn't feel comfortable presenting a case involving a sexual offence to a Council that is partly made up of criminals with a history of committing sexual offences. We are placing a cap of 50% on the proportion of Council members who have performed one or more premeditated sexual assaults or rapes in the preceding twelve months. Homelesspersons and disabledpersons are exempt from this cap.

So potentially all participants on the "council" could be rapists but would meet these requirements if they were homeless or disabled or committed the offence more than 12 months ago or it was not "premeditated".

I'm not sure I've seen such a blatant example of what Andrea Dworkin wrote about when she said:

"The difference between leftwing and rightwing when it comes to women is only about where exactly on our necks their boots should be placed. To right wing men, we are private property. To left wing men, we are public property. In either case, we are not considered to be humans: We are things."

Huh? What is this Council and how exactly would it have authority to hear/adjudicate/decide on sexual offences?
Is this in Gilead?

This is CHAZ, for those like me who’d never heard of it.

That tweet stream is gold. I was absolutely convinced it was satire.

FloraFox · 18/06/2020 01:27

The Council was supposed to deal with conflicts within the "autonomous" region without involving the police or any other outside authority. It's supposed to be some kind of community based, autonomous living community.

Are we sure it’s not A Monty Python tribute act?
Mycatismadeofstringcheese · 18/06/2020 02:46

Oh good. They’re including the non-men. That’s nice.

TehBewilderness · 18/06/2020 02:48

It's the Capitol Hill Neighborhood and they have no authority. They are Occupying.
There have been weird reports on Fox News about the violence and they even photoshopped men with guns into the pictures to prove it. All the same man.
There is a street fair going on on Capitol hill and the rules are not to be taken seriously because the writers of the rules have no authority.

TehBewilderness · 18/06/2020 02:50

The police are still responding to calls on Capitol Hill.
Please do not take this performance art seriously.
We've been on lockdown a very long time.

Notthefutureyet · 18/06/2020 03:14

It's been removed from Reddit, possible troll.

FloraFox · 18/06/2020 03:16

The writers might have no authority but it is illustrative of the mindset of those who were involved in writing them. The Occupy movement had significant issues with sexual assaults in the camps.

I think it's rather more likely it was removed from Reddit because it makes them look like idiots rather than that it was a troll.

OP posts:
TehBewilderness · 18/06/2020 05:02

I guess it depends if you read it as sarcasm directed at the way rapes are handled by law enforcement and the courts here, where perps pass judgment on perps and big surprise they are rarely guilty but the rape victims are often successfully prosecuted.

Chiochan · 18/06/2020 05:22

So, because women dont get justice in society its ok for radical new visions to carry on in that same vein?
Not much of a change then, well possibly a change for the worse.

TehBewilderness · 18/06/2020 05:24

I can't explain parody. If you don't get it you don't get it.

FloraFox · 18/06/2020 06:10

What is it that makes you think it is parody?

OP posts:
ahumanfemale · 18/06/2020 09:50

I also thought it was a parody: rape trials with 50-50 male-female jury. Many men have been guilty of sexual assault, if not outright rape, without even realising it. Thinking about things ranging from a cheeky grab of a girl's bum in a club to "having sex" with female partners who are asleep.

Sexual violence is - or has historically been / so normalised and deeply ingrained in society that any jury with 50% men is likely to include a good number of men who have committed some sexual offence without considering it to be such.

Therefore the setup outlined on the pulled text was likely a parody.

Kantastic · 18/06/2020 10:40

As per the discussion below it seems to not be a parody. Parts of the American left have reached a point where it is impossible to parody them.

Kantastic · 18/06/2020 10:49

I just doubted my own comment and went to read more of the author's post history because it's so ridiculous - aside from that masterpiece there is an exchange where a troll asked him if the zone was "pedosexual inclusive" and he said it was and then backtracked and said he hadn't known what "pedosexual" meant.

After reading more - I still think it's a real person, really located in the "CHAZ," being serious.

i don't know that's parody or not,

read that chaz has now some 'war lord wanna be guy' and
'white segregated park'.

FloraFox · 18/06/2020 19:11

I don't see anything that indicates it's a parody. I think this fits squarely into what Germaine Greer said: "Women have very little idea of how much men hate them". This isn't exclusive to right wing men.

OP posts:
TheProdigalKittensReturn · 18/06/2020 19:42

If they regard 50% as a reasonable cap on known sexual abusers adjudicating rape cases just how high is the percentage of sexual abusers in their organizing committee in general? The fact that they've set it at 50% makes it sound like they think women should present our cases to a pseudo jury comprised on half rapists and half non rapists in order to ensure that the all important rapist perspective is included.

FloraFox · 18/06/2020 20:20

50% isn't the actual cap. That's only for premeditated rape in the last 12 months and homeless and disabled people are excluded from the cap.

Plus, according to edit 8, more than 25% must have a previous violent criminal history with previous or current (?) incarceration experience.

They could all be rapists.

OP posts:
TheProdigalKittensReturn · 18/06/2020 20:38

I hope this is a parody but nothing would surprise me from lefty blokes at this point. Luckily, like Bewilderness says, these people have no actual authority and the city will at some point kick them out, just not now because that would look terrible and also Trump threatening to send the army in has made it into an anything he says we do the opposite issue.

TehBewilderness · 18/06/2020 20:39

The CHAZ is a parody performance.

TehBewilderness · 18/06/2020 20:47

Their creepy rape joke is just as disgusting as any other rape joke.
