Think it's just discussion. Interested to see what people think about this though. I'm genuinely confused as to why stating the fact that only women can menstruate is transphobic. Trans women have male reproductive organs and cannot menstruate??

Because it confounds the Transwomen are women narrative, and reminds them that no matter what they do to their body they cannot override biology to have the biological functions of a natal woman.

There is also the issue that Transmen may menstruate, but I really don't think it is about that so much.

this is enraging. is there not one loose woman able to speak up for female rights?

I can’t believe the argument is starting to turn to “Oh but not all women menstruate”. FFS. I’m 52 and can’t wait to no longer be “a menstruator”. Still will be a woman and won’t be triggered by the use of “women” around it.

“Not all women menstruate” as in those who identify as women but don’t due to menopause, birth control etc., not TM/NB.

So women who menstruate can't be called women because some women don't menstruate.

So, as there are women who don't shop in, say, M&S, will M&S be changing the 'women's department' to ''people who shop here's department'?

This is what I don't get (well there's lots I don't get but I don't think I'm supposed to)

1, As woman is now a taboo term I no longer menstruate. How do I define myself so as not to offend people who hate the term woman?

2, Whenever I hear these new definitions of what used to be w i.e. bleeders, menstruators, womb havers etc it just makes me hink of when misogynists call us piece of ass, split arses, cunts etc. Is that just me being sensitive or are they all cut from the same cloth?

I am wondering whether JK choose the right thing to tweet about, some people seem confused and others are deliberately misunderstanding.

I agree that there is some wilful misunderstanding. The absolute cheek of the trans actor stating she should be educated on the subject.

I didn't watch, but guessed the discussion would go this way. Loose Women is all about woolly virtue signalling and 'being kind', whilst also making a nod to being current and not 'fuddy-duddy'. No one wants to accidentally voice unfashionable view which make them look like old battle-axes in front of the youngsters, right? LW's remit is to kindly instruct their audience on the most flattering opinions for women of a certain age to hold. Second wave feminism is incredibly ageing (head tilt)

But I suspect Janet Street Porter probably lies awake staring at the ceiling at 3am wondering if she should have put a higher price on her conscience, integrity and intelligence.

I saw this was on and deliberately changed channel. The industry they work in is very woke and as freelancers I doubt they dare say their real view on this. If they are GC I mean, but as they are surrounded by people who will swear TWAW it has probably influenced their thinking too. So in conclusion: disappointing but unsurprising.
