So, that's nice.

If I could swish my hair I'd celebrate with Munro, but, I am a common-or-garden type of woman who's too busy doing stuff to work on my femininity.

Well to be fair, Munro has to work extra specially hard to pass as a woman.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 10/06/2020 00:49

Munro has "goddess" written on their neck, just underneath where my adam's apple is not.

I don't have a tattoo of any sort. Womaning is so hard. There are all these rules I don't understand. I'll get a tattoo tomorrow. And some shampoo. Thank goodness for Munro.

Oh well. I consider my brief foray into defending Bergdorf's right to speak with integrity and knowledge about racism and corporate hypocrisy well and truly over.

As long as L'Oreal are providing that sweet validation of MB's 'femininity' and a new fat cash wad, I guess the integrity of standing up to the corporate hypocrisy of only supporting the oppressed when it's fashionable means precisely fuck all.

OvaHere · 10/06/2020 01:02

It's interesting that Munroe's misogynistic comments about women and specifically lesbians are of no apparent interest to L'Oreal nor a barrier to being re-employed.

Nousernamehistory · 10/06/2020 01:05

Misogyny doesn't exist anymore because the definition of "woman" has become so bastardised that it's now meaningless. There can't be targeted hatred towards a group that no longer exists.

TeaAndStrumpets · 10/06/2020 01:53

Top fawning, L'Oreal.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 10/06/2020 01:55

Quite BaronessFloralBunting.

In this brave new world, principles are less firm ground to stand on and more a travellator to a tawdry pay check.

Goosefoot · 10/06/2020 03:34

Arguments against gender ideology seemed like they'd made gains recently. This seems a bit like someone coming in at the window when the door proves difficult to break down.

Jaguarana · 10/06/2020 04:03

I've only seen that person once on TV. Before that I'd never heard of them, apart from on here, so I know a little bit about them. The main thing I noticed was that they did an awful lot of hair swishing and were very good at it, so of course that makes them very suitable for a shampoo commercial. It makes me feel a bit sad that I'm a woman with short hair and I can't swish mine at all

NotBadConsidering · 10/06/2020 04:07

I posted on the other thread. I’m baffled by anyone who sees this as anything other than self-advancement and narcissism. Munroe comes first, everything else follows.

Jintyfer · 10/06/2020 07:21

Well this isn't a good outcome. How did a donation to Mermaids come out of this? L'Oreal really haven't done their homework but I guess they will "do as they are told" by MB from now on.

This.

I kept my gob shut about it because I think now is not the time to moan about black anger over racism (no matter how bad the person it's coming from) but I'm not remotely surprised her anger dissolves on contact with money.

The 'consultancy' role basically means ' we don't want you being our public face because you are embarrassing but we'd like to pay you to stop calling us racist'.

SiaPR · 10/06/2020 07:53

Munro has "goddess" written on their neck, just underneath where my adam's apple is not. That is the best thing I have ever seen written here.

OhHolyJesus · 10/06/2020 08:18

Goodness what is a Mermaid's 'gender'?

It's just Mermaids, L'Oreal could have at least got the name right, look I spelled their silly name out with the apostrophe and everything!

A Mermaid is not a Merman, so sex-wise, even mythical creatures have male and female sexes.

Munroe will undoubtably say something racist or xenophobic and L'Oreal will have to climb down again. Like snakes and ladders.

It's only funny to me as I was talking to mate last night about how Covid will affect different industries and how corporates are trying to be woke so to stay relevant.

Munroe will be in good company with Paris Lees, I wonder who will win the battle of the best hair?

BaronessFloralBunting · 10/06/2020 09:35

Again, just as I said on the other thread about this that I'm not surprised by corporate hypocrisy, I'm not surprised MB has no integrity on this matter, just like MB doesn't when it comes to women and children.

Frankly, my posts were coming from a place of humility in understanding that MB was free to express anger about racism that my white self didn't get, and a sense of fair minded benefit-of-the-doubt giving that is one of the ways I avoid tribalism.

I've only rarely been rewarded by the person actually not making me look like an idiot by them having integrity themselves, and this obviously wasn't one of those times. I will continue to be hopeful and cynical all at the same time.

Needmoresleep · 10/06/2020 09:51

Lockdown discovery....Lidl moisturing shampoo...just saying.

L'oreal are also huge sellers of vile skin whitening creams across Asia and that region. Shelves and shelves of them all supported by photoshopped lovelies with pale skin in shops, magazines etc.

When I challenged them they said they only supplied it because people demanded it - all with a completely straight face.

This.

Hypocrites are made for each other.

Surprised Munroe hasn't received a backlash from POC on this, tbh.

Exactly
SunsetBeetch · 10/06/2020 11:01

*OTHER POC , that was supposed to be.

Is Munroe not bothered about the sale is skin lightening cream or it's collaboration with Camilla Cabello?
