No disrespect to Deborah Lavin who was obviously someone of interest herself, but thought those who admired Magdalen Berns would be interested to read.

I didn’t know she was Magdalen’s mother. What a fantastic woman who obviously passed on her passion and intelligence to her daughter. What another sad loss.

GrinitchSpinach · 27/04/2020 20:09

Well, shit.

What a family!

Sorry I haven’t anything more eloquent to contribute.

OvaHere · 27/04/2020 20:12

Oh that's sad. She sounds a very interesting woman in her own right. Magdalen obviously got a lot of her personality from her mum.

franke · 27/04/2020 20:18

What an extraordinarily interesting woman. Thanks for highlighting this op.

Rest in Power Deborah Levin. A great legacy to leave, even before bringing up your brilliant firebrand daughter Magdalen, who has done so much to reboot the current wave of feminism. I will be looking up the work mentioned in the article. Much sympathy to the rest of the family at this sad time xx

Does anyone know where Deborah lived in Portsmouth in the 1970s? It'd be good to have it acknowledged.

Flowers She sounded like a brilliant woman. My condolences to the family to have lost her and Magdalen in such a short time.
T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 27/04/2020 21:32

What an amazing woman! She must have been so proud of Magdalen, though I’m sure she was proud if all her children.

Remarkable woman! Not surprising to hear her history and know that was Magdalen's mother - the intelligence and drive clearly runs in the family. I'm sorry to hear she's died, two heavy losses for that poor family.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 27/04/2020 22:08

That is very sad. What an interesting life, though. Inspiring.

Coyoacan · 27/04/2020 22:49

What an inspirational woman in her own right.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/04/2020 01:02

So sad Thanks

Thinkingabout1t · 29/04/2020 19:01

she was guided by a thoughtful, sincere passion.

Excellent obituary in the Morning Star. She sounds like an inspiring woman, not surprising for the mother of Magdalen Berns.

Flowers for everyone who loved them both.
