My favourite people on Twitter now have Claire in their names. Please enlighten me about the Claire meme.

Dont know about a meme but Claire with an 'i' was my bestest friend at school.

To me, Claire is the loveliest of names.
I feel privileged to have known my 'Claire'.

I know, Claire is a great name. I guess it has become an ageist, sexist stereotype but I don't know the reference.

I googled 'Claire meme' and there were some but I had no idea what the point of them was.

All Clairs in my life have been lovely.

Claires

CountFosco · 14/04/2020 10:33

I would assume it is a Fleabag reference.

Bye Claire! Bye Klare! Bye Claire!

A sizeable percentage of women born in the '70s and '80s are called Claire. Is it a Gen X reference?

OhGodWhatTheHellNow · 15/04/2020 13:09

No, unless I'm wrong it refers to a Twitter-silenced intersex advocate called Claire Graham (MRKHVoice); one of the usual Clownfishyfuckers has been loudly asserting that other intersex advocates on Twitter such as twitter.com/intersexfacts are all Claire's sock accounts, this is the riposte. Very mumsnetty actually, they will be sharing 70's pudding recipes next Grin

Thanks OhGod, that makes sense.
