Has Stonewall replaced Ruth Hunt yet????

NotAssigned · 06/04/2020 15:23

Do we know anything about Marsha?

Can't say I am sorry to see Dawn gone. Beyond woke.

AveEldon · 06/04/2020 15:28

She's my MP - she might have changed her position but previously she told me
"... fighting for the rights of women means fighting for all women, including those women who may have been given another classification at birth."

truthisarevolutionaryact · 06/04/2020 15:33

fighting for the rights of women means fighting for all women, including those women who may have been given another classification at birth
And we wonder why conspiracy theories (like the 5g one) have such traction in this country when we have politicians who spout drivel like this and expect the electorate to trust them over serious issues.

teawamutu · 06/04/2020 15:34

Oh great. Another useful idiot, then.

BovaryX · 06/04/2020 15:39

Grin Grin Another intellectual giant by the sound of it.....

Datun · 06/04/2020 15:43

I mean, it's one thing to imagine there might be some kind of weird, neurological blip. Rare and strange and perhaps beyond the realms of human experience or categorisation.

It's quite another actually seeing trans people on TV, in newspaper articles, splashed across social media and in real life and not see the reasons for transitioning absolutely staring you in the face.

AveEldon · 06/04/2020 16:11

To be fair to Marsha - she is registered blind

MaMaLa321 · 06/04/2020 17:08

she's just tweeted this

I want to thank my fantastic friend and colleague
@DawnButlerBrent
for the important work that she has done on this brief.

Another Woke idiot then

Justhadathought · 06/04/2020 17:09

This problem is not going to go away just because there is a new leader. Significant sections of the party have been captured and given the 'training'. What we need to insist on is that they now take the time to educate themsleves on issues around Self Id, including meeting with WPUK and the LGB Alliance.

Callmejudith · 06/04/2020 17:20

A genuine question - how do blind people tell a person's sex? Is it just on voice?

Datun · 06/04/2020 17:21

To be fair to Marsha - she is registered blind

Well, of course, the visual experience of many trans people does go some way to inform opinion. Mine, anyway. But obviously, it's about the concept, rather than the image.

zanahoria · 06/04/2020 17:22

I assume she wil suppoer reforming the GRA, the real matter is how much she wants to push it.

The Tories have been smart enough to kick it into ths long grass, will Labour be dumb enought to retrieve it?

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 06/04/2020 17:33

David Blunkett never had any difficulty sniffing the women out.

happydappy2 · 06/04/2020 17:46

Marsha is my MP and we have met, specifically for me to explain to her the dangers of trans ideology-she did say, being partially sighted, having single sex changing rooms was important to her. I questioned how Jeremy Corbyn could state TWAW and she said of course they're not actual women. Whether she can state this now who knows-but we talked about trans women in womens prisons, the fact that most trans women retain their penis & the harms of telling children they have been born in the wrong body (Mermaids.) Dawn knows womens concerns about having TW in their single sex spaces.....

everythingcrossed · 06/04/2020 17:57

Marsha is also my MP , my impression following a brief meeting and letters about Brexit is that she goes with the flow until it becomes untenable. So if Labour leadership embraces TWAW she will too until she meets enough people on the doorstep telling her otherwise. It's a marginal seat and she wants to hold onto it.

MrsSnippyPants · 06/04/2020 18:28

AveEldon and happydappy2 do you have approximate dates for your encounters with de Cordova? I'm trying to figure out if she has changed her mind from one stance to the other and when.

happydappy2 · 06/04/2020 19:03

Snippy end of 2018 I met her-she was also saying trans people are the most marginalised etc etc and any correspondence from her office stated TWAW but she herself would not feel comfortable in a mixed sex changing room.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 06/04/2020 19:36

she said of course they're not actual women

How is it woke people can hold this logical, reasonable knowledge in their heads while also saying TWAW and not realising the implications? It's extreme cognitive dissonance, no?

Kantastic · 06/04/2020 19:55

How is it woke people can hold this logical, reasonable knowledge in their heads while also saying TWAW and not realising the implications?

Some people, not the super woke ones, think that "TWAW" is just politeness. They don't realise that it's not interpreted as politeness but as surrender, and that once you say it you are expected to act like it's true.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 06/04/2020 21:34

Yes. We're impeded by the batshit craziness of the arguments, really, aren't we? Everybody thinks 'nobody REALLY believes TWAW, so what's the harm in saying it?' And true, nobody really believes it.

But asserting that there is no material difference between males and females is exactly what the moment wants to achieve. Sex difference erased at a stroke. One wee slogan, and feminism collapses in a puff of rainbow smoke.

ListeningQuietly · 06/04/2020 21:58

Marsha is not blind.
(see here www.theguardian.com/society/2017/dec/12/marsha-de-cordova-disabled-minister-equality-battles)
She has very impaired eyesight.

DidoLamenting · 06/04/2020 23:43

Well he's kicked out most of the Corbynistas, although de Cordova voted for Corbyn in both leadership elections.

I'm pleased to see Shami Chakrabarti has gone too and even better that it's arch- Blairite Charlie Falconer who replaces her.

AveEldon · 07/04/2020 13:17

@MrsSnippyPants - my contact was towards the end of 2017

@ListeningQuietly she is registered blind - that doesn't mean she has no sight at all www.rnib.org.uk/rnibconnect/the-mp
