Misbehaviour, what a fantastic film!

Dd(12), asked me to take her to see this, having seen trailers. We are very close, but she rolls her eyes when she sees me on Mumsnet, or trying to explain feminism and she doesn't understand my concerns over trans issues.,.
Anyway, the film was fantastic, and I could feel her anger and indignation coming off her in waves! I think it's hard for younger people to understand how important women's rights are if you haven't had a lived experience of what went before. Take your daughters, take your sons, it's a fun, easy to watch film and all the better for it- the message still gets through!

Has no one else seen this, if so why not?

Great, I saw the trailer with my DD when we saw Emma recently and thought it looked good. Planning to take her.

NYnachos · 14/03/2020 21:21

Can't wait to see it!

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 14/03/2020 21:24

I have heard great things abou this from women whose feminist credentials are top notch, so I definitely want to see it!

ForFiveMinutes · 14/03/2020 21:34

Went to see it this evening, it was very good but didn’t half give me the rage, especially as we seem to be heading backwards at an alarming rate.

jamrollyolly · 15/03/2020 11:01

Forfive, yes it definitely going to make you angry, but hopefully it will make others angry. I think that there are a lot of people who have no idea what is meant by hard won women's rights. If we try to tell them, (young) people don't want to listen. They will get it if they watch this.

I took my 15 year old dd to see it yesterday.

It has inspired her to come with me to protest at the 40 days of life site near us today.

Fab film.

I saw it, thought it was very clever , I thought it was interesting that the Keira Knightly character was only able to campaign because her DM and DP looked after her DD. I remember watching Miss World on tv ( in colour mind I'm not old enough to remember the 1970 one). I loved that they showed the real people at the end. I also never realised that Bob Hope was such a creep.

nzborn · 15/03/2020 11:25

Seen and can't stop recomending it.

jamrollyolly · 15/03/2020 12:42

Rookie yes loved seeing the real women at the end, they looked amazing- so strong and beautiful! Surely some of them must be MNers, if so, we'd salute you!

I saw this a while back for the work and when the lights come up all my female colleagues were in tears. (Quite a tough audience as well.) The real characters appearing at the end really hit hit home. What a bunch of inspirational women - who should be much better known than they are. I thought it dealt with the conflicts and contradictions between them brilliantly - GENUINE intersectional feminism (class, race, nationality) at play and GENUINE sisterhood. The arguments were shown as constructive and important - not 'feminist infighting'.

daringdoris · 15/03/2020 17:50

I haven't seen the film yet, but agreed it looks great, and I've only heard good comments.

I heard about this during a discussion of it and listened yesterday - really good: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00tkpc1

It's an episode of The Reunion, the R4 programme.

Micaela64 · 15/03/2020 18:26

Erm, is it safe to go to the cinema with the Coronavirus around? Most seem rather poorly insulated.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 15/03/2020 19:23

Listening now Doris, thank you Smile

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 15/03/2020 19:42

I have just pre-ordered it Smile

RadFemsUnite · 15/03/2020 20:12

Ooh thanks for the Radio 4 link! That's great. Hopefully there'll be a few newspaper articles about it all too.

AutumnRose1 · 16/03/2020 00:30

If the cinema doesn’t close, I might go.

Saw Military Wives last week and there were only 6 people there.

Teabaseddiet · 29/03/2020 15:32

I wonder if this will be fast tracked to amazon prime/dvd so we can watch it during lockdown?

DidoLamenting · 29/03/2020 17:40

It doesn't seem to be available on any of Amazon, Google Play Movies, Curzon Home Cinema and the like.

Slightly odd as the likes of Military Wives, Emma, Portrait of Lady on Fire which were released at more or less the same time are available.

My husband saw it in the cinema and really liked it. I gave it a miss after reading a terrible review.
