International Women's Day and Female Erasure

I'm sure this has already been mentioned somewhere but yesterday I started documenting examples of organisations, businesses, universities etc that decided that the focus of IWD2020 should be anyone but actual women.

As of lunchtime today I have posted over 130 examples ranging from female erasure to blatant men's rights activism.

We are not allowed ONE SINGLE DAY to ourselves.

I know! I've never heard of the organisation that posted it but it seems to have been shared by Cysters- a group for pcos support. Which, you know, won't be relevant to anyone without fecking ovaries.

In case you can't tell this has made me quite grumpy. I daren't read all the other examples the OP has collected. I might explode.

Why is the one with the penis one of the only slim versions of womanhood? Why do they all have hairy legs? And the young ones all have lush flowing long hair? And why does one have an eye in the middle of their forehead?

Oh. Thanks Soubriquet. I thought it was meant to be someone who had transcended and had a third eye. It all seemed too forced yet too stereotyped to be actually representative.

Is there any real difference between TRAs and Men's Rights Activists? Other than TRAs being a subset of MRAs?

It's not necessarily female erasure but do people only search for international men's day when it is international women's day.

Why are we not 'allowed' to just have one day?!

Let's fully appreciate that the ridiculous image with the bepenised person (with an apparently female person with said penis at head-height, which I'm sure is unintentional and not a cosmic co-incidence betraying the mindset of the people behind it) has women in the nuddy and without faces.

This is a literary magazine for WOMEN that has been going for more than 20 years, and I don't know who's running their SM at the moment but she's desperate to prove her woke credentials FFS.

There was one on my Happy International Day! thread - although the poster doesn't name the company, but they all had to watch a video of a transwoman talking about how difficult it was to be a woman

Well, yes, it's pretty bloody difficult, nay, impossible, to be a woman if you were born male.

I don't know who got hold of the reins at UN Women - but that is grim.

We may need a new day.

Both the universities in Leicester students union bodies rebranded it Womyns Day. Thus totally erasing women altogether.
