www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8032957/Why-Nicole-viciously-trolled-trans-extremists.html

Effeminate boy Hmm
Playing with My Little Ponies and Sindy dolls means you are a girl Hmm
Born in the wrong body Hmm
Make an effort to look more feminine Hmm
No advantage in sports Hmm
Homegrown breasts Hmm

Perhaps it is too early in the morning and the news yesterday on the GRA act is tentatively promising.
But I still have the rage with articles like this that 'romanticise' transing and applaud men for morphing into beautiful, confident women who model lingerie.
Arrrrggggghhhhhh

Personally, I think this is the Mail's attempt at 'balance'.

There's plenty to eye-roll at though - but again, most of it comes down to wondering what is meant by 'living as a woman'.

But the fact that Nicole got shit from TRAs for daring to believe there are two genders [sic] is not unsurprising at all. It's almost funny how trans-exclusionary they can be at times.

DickKerrLadies · 23/02/2020 08:19

Not surprising, rather than 'not unsurprising', of course. Blush

Caffeine please!

BringbackLang · 23/02/2020 08:24

I'm sure Nicole is a lovely person but it was a tick box in stereotypes to be honest. The last line also struck a cord 'I simply ticked woman.' Well no, Nicole, you are a transwoman.

Qcng · 23/02/2020 08:31

Well, I don't know, she looks and seems happy.

At least Nicole isn't another one of those
"Evil Terfs are making us all die" and throwing false statistics around. Nicole explains that most of the abuse she's received has been from trans activists, and highlights how crazy it all is. She's against children transitioning. Against beardy blokes calling themselves women. Can't see much to get het up about.

To me, it's obvious Glenn would have grown up to be a gay man, were it not for the terrible homophobic bullying he received as a child. Quite possibly the homophobia was present at home too?
The usual story is that the idea of "born in the wrong body" is embraced at home, so the parents don't have to worry about having a gay son. Certainly was the case with Paris Lee's and Jackie Green, anyway, who have told their stories openly.

(I must say though, I think Nicole is telling one or two untruths wrt certain cosmetic surgeries but that's just my opinion and I could be wrong.!)

The comments under the Mail article were all positive. Which shows the Mail isn’t full of transphobes.
I’m a woman and I’ve worn a skirt, heels and lipstick for job interviews. To get by in the part of society i was in, I chose to confirm to “the rules”. I wasn’t always ready to tackle “the rules” head on.
Nicola’s choice to transition is to make Nicola’s life better within Nicola’s part of society. As an adult, living in the real world, Nicola can make that choice.

Melioration · 23/02/2020 08:59

Sounds like someone my ds went out with.

Lots of lovely photos on fb, full of hope, worked in a cafe to follow a dream which was a little less glamorous than acting and tv work but has gone quiet now.

MrsSlocombesPussy · 23/02/2020 09:02

She's not keen on self ID though:
If you've got a beard and your name is Dave and you've just stuck a skirt on, I think everybody would appreciate that's not trans.

SW16 · 23/02/2020 09:08

This is someone who actually underwent surgery etc.

People have done this for decades, and endured contempt and ridicule and discrimination enough.

Nicole is not a TRA yelling ‘TERF’ and demanding to be let into the Hampstead Women’s Pond whilst sporting a beard and bulging pants on the basis of self ID.

Leave her be.

Doyoumind · 23/02/2020 09:09

This article doesn't make me angry. I accept that there are some people who genuinely want to transition and just get on with life. I appreciate the acknowledgement that there are extreme TRAs who do not represent the whole community and can cause harm. It's the DM. I'm more surprised that they keep covering the subject than that they refer to stereotypes.

UpfieldHatesWomen · 23/02/2020 09:24

The Mail treats women with utter contempt, so the objectification of Nicole and equating womanhood to big boobs and modelling lingerie is consistent with that. I like one of the comments: "I just want my coffee". All this ideological preaching from corporations is exhausting, particularly from one whose business models includes intentionally destroying small businesses and not paying taxes. How do they have the brass balls to come up with this shit? Why do people go along with it?

TheWordWomanIsTaken · 23/02/2020 12:06

SW16
I disagree.
This is why we are at the point that we are at.
Letting men be when they parade as women.
Lines became blurred.
The whole bingo list of what a woman is is in this article.
I'm sure that Nicole is a lovely person. But they are not welcome in my space until they stop ticking the woman box.

This is probably a v trivial distraction but - implants have a certain look that just isn't about the size, it's about the way they jut out from the flesh of the chest, and this person's "homegrown breasts" certainly have that look, even allowing for the push-up-bra. Frankly I don't believe them, and it seems like such a weird, pointless lie - I note that they are specifically gaslighting women who mention their obvious implants - that I am reflexively sceptical of everything they say.

UpfieldHatesWomen · 23/02/2020 12:25

allmywhat bit of a weird boast, isn't it? "I didn't have silicone implants put in, I took a massive amount of hormones instead." Whoop-de-doo. Perhaps there's some sort of disordered thinking behind it that is meant to show they are more of a woman than those who take the other option, or indeed, more than flat-chested women who gain implants. Because that's all women are, isn't it, tits.

allmywhat · 23/02/2020 12:42

I think it must be something like that - I have noticed TW often assume women are all competing with each other about superficial appearance-related stuff all the time. And this seems like an attempt to compete with women, and perhaps even moreso other TW, while simultaneously projecting that competitiveness onto them - as if anyone who notices the incredibly obvious implant lines is just jealous.

I bet they had facial surgery too. Ironically I wouldn't have given that claim a second's thought if it weren't for the obvious lie about the implants. There's a subtext of "I'm better than other transwomen" all through it, now I think of it. I think this person's quite particular hangups are on display, even through the sympathetic Mail writeup.

Doyoumind · 23/02/2020 12:42

I can't get upset about fully informed adults who surgically transition and feel happy about it years later. I don't think they have changed sex but I'm happy for them to just get on with their lives and don't feel threatened by them. Yes, they are possibly basing their life on a stereotype but if they understand that there is more to being a woman than simply saying you are one, I can live with that.

I'm angry about the prospect of children and young adults transitioning without fully understanding themselves and the consequences. I'm also angry about adults self-diagnosing and self IDing themselves into places where they clearly don't belong and basing their identity only on a feeling and no other meaningful transition.

It's an odd one I agree. There is nothing natural about a man having breasts, even if they are from having high doses of hormones his body doesn't need.

It's almost as though it makes them more of a woman than a woman.
