Interestingly, I read on here earlier about the value of men policing other men's behaviour and this seems to me to be a good example.

This has escaped. Smile

We have ordinary people talking to mainstream papers who aren't trapped by regulatory capture and don't have to shout the slogans before they very carefully even approach the subject - this is ordinary people and business owners talking to the general public in widely read ordinary papers, and they're saying exactly what they think.

#debating

Yup, sunlight's breaking through.

”The former Dragons Den star replied: "So a man is walking into ladies changing area. He says I am transgender, they say sorry and let him walk straight in amongst the ladies, young girls and children. Not in my world. Not gonna happen when I am there

Personal highlight for me

Duncan quote from Twitter re the headline:

"You see what happens when I stand up for women. This paper writes an untrue headline. The paper must be controlled by women hating liars of the lowest order."

Languishingfemale · 21/02/2020 22:24

Good for him. Having let my gym membership lapse (with not good results for my body) I am going to get my arse into gear and re join a gym. There's one of Bannatyne's gyms not far from me (along with 2 others). Their prices are very competitive so I'm going to join up to them instead of my old gym. Just as I can boycott businesses like M & S who discard the safety and wellbeing of women, I can support one like Bannatyne's that support women and our safety.

AnneOfTeenFables · 21/02/2020 22:26

He's been vocal on this while but it's good the mainstream media are finally picking up on it.

LouHotel · 21/02/2020 22:27

Awning10 that is no punches pulled!

Voice0fReason · 21/02/2020 22:51

Thank you Duncan.
It is clear that as more of the public become aware of this, they support reality and common sense. They don't want men in women's spaces.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 21/02/2020 23:23

Excellent
And delighted to see it in the record which is the only paper my in-laws ever read! They can’t be the only ones.

Hi there, posters who've spent the last couple of years telling the women here that we're a tiny minority of bigots who don't represent public opinion on this issue. You see that bloke right there in the article? That's public opinion.

(Why yes, I am rather enjoying this.)

PreseaCombatir · 21/02/2020 23:26

Had a quick browse through his twitter feed. A lot of the tweets he’s replying to have been deleted.
Obviously couldn’t take the criticism...

Langsdestiny · 21/02/2020 23:29

Duncan bannatyne doesnt need to care what people think. Money gives great freedom in that regard. His twitter feed is very confusing though, he seems to contradict himself a bit on this issue.

wellbehavedwomen · 21/02/2020 23:32

Yep. Guaranteed safe changing spaces sounds pretty bloody good to me. Of all the businesses you'd want owned by someone with his mindset, one that you need to strip in is top of the damn list.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 21/02/2020 23:37

I suspect that there's a connection between "good enough businessman to make a lot of money" and "bright enough to realize that if you make women's changing rooms at your gym penis friendly then your female customers will take their money elsewhere".

Binglebong · 21/02/2020 23:53

Please, if this gets you using Bannatyne's tell them why. Tell who you are leaving why and tell whoever you go to.

The fact is that many companies will go for whatever makes the most money. So knowing they will lose or gain on this will affect decisions. The people pushing this are getting companies backing them because they are so vocal. They are a tiny minority with an unjustified reach because of this. We need to balance and then tip the scale. (Sorry about the mixed metaphors- it's late!)
