I can hardly speak I am so incensed.
'Men will rape women anyway, why would they bother to put on a dress to go into the women's toilets' was the gist of it.

Why is this paedophile apologist given airtime?!

Why would they become priests - football coaches - swimming coaches or get jobs working in overseas charities - putting on a fucking dress - seems like a very easy route compared to - qualifying as priest or Vicar - never mind having to all that bloody football coaching to get to the kids (disclaimer I know not all swimming teachers vicars have sexual motives) but you get the drift

lucasthecat · 17/02/2020 11:35

Perverts and rapists will really go to extraordinary lengths to access - women - children and vulnerable people - putting on a frock and saying I’m a woman - is not only fast track it’s supported by the Labour Party FFS

MrsSnippyPants · 17/02/2020 11:35

Harry on now!

OP posts:
Languishingfemale · 17/02/2020 11:37

Did he mention his previous comments about much pleasure men get out of sex with children 9 - 13 years olds?

Languishingfemale · 17/02/2020 11:37

Sorry - that was Tatchell, not Harry ..

CallofDoodee · 17/02/2020 11:39

I don't understand how Peter Tatchell gets airtime?!

Hirsutefirs · 17/02/2020 11:42

Some things always spring to mind.

How such a prominent gay can possibly pontificate on the lengths to which heterosexual sex abusers will go, I have no idea. His abhorrent views on sex with children are also well known and why he is given any air time at all is a complete mystery. I well remember PIE and Peter Tatchell. His appearance with Caroline Farrow was nauseating and I commend her for behaving impeccably while having to sit next to his sweaty façade.

Michelleoftheresistance · 17/02/2020 11:52

I'm always baffled at why any media outlet are prepared to give him the time of day with his history.

People are always going to steal cars. Do you still lock your car when you leave it? This kind of argument merely tries to devalue women and their rights even further, and represents the values of someone who believes in their personal freedoms without caring about the impact on others they wish to use. And tries to frame that impact as
well it's always happened, it's inevitable, no point fussing about it, or as the victim quite probably liking it/not being harmed, so it's all fine. The purpose is social approval and consent for appalling treatment of groups very much 'othered'. Such as women and children.

PIE type thinking still going strong.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 17/02/2020 12:02

PIE type thinking still going strong.

Let's be honest so is PIE.

Kantastic · 17/02/2020 12:06

why would they bother to put on a dress to go into the women's toilets

This is how you know they KNOW they're lying. The likes of Tatchell know perfectly well that they're advocating for men or transwomen who haven't bothered to put on a dress to go into all women's spaces.

This argument is a deliberate attempt to mislead people who don't know much about this issue and it needs to be called out as such.

MrsSnippyPants · 17/02/2020 12:08

It is SO frustrating listening to radio presenters and guests get things SO wrong! Almost any woman on this board could do a better job

Can someone put his letter where he states 9 years olds having sex with adults gives them ‘great joy’ in LBC’s twitter feed.

Sex with under 13s - statutory rape.

OhHolyJesus · 17/02/2020 12:23

Ruth Hunt said the same thing and look where she is now. Bloody House of Lords.

MrsSnippyPants · 17/02/2020 12:51

Argh, it was Talk Radio, not LBC!
@MNHQ would you please edit the title for me?

The first response to this 'argument' is always - "what are you talking about, 'putting on a dress'? What have clothes got to do with any of it?"

EverardDigby · 17/02/2020 13:46

Well that's okay then if we feel uncomfortable and frightened and stop going to places. As long as we don't get raped it's fine 🙄🙄🙄.

theunknownknown · 17/02/2020 14:17

That letter Shock

mcduffy · 17/02/2020 14:36

Made me feel sick.

Freespeecher · 17/02/2020 18:21

Echoes of Lily Allen there:

'a Twitter user reportedly asked the star if the victims of grooming gangs would have been raped if migrants had not been allowed into the UK.

Allen tweeted: "Actually, there's a strong possibility they would have been raped and abused by somebody else at some point.

"That's kind of the issue." '

I'd expected more of Tatchell tbh, as he's been quite sound on free speech in other areas (even for people who disagree with him) but he does seem to have a massive blindspot here.

(I do dislike the 'well, it's going to happen anyway' argument as, whether applied to kids taking drugs or ramped all the way up to kids being raped, it's such a cop out. The Moral Maze would be down to 30 seconds an episode, and most of that would be spent introducing the panel).

MrsSnippyPants · 17/02/2020 18:39

@MNHQ Please could you edit the title as requested earlier?

MrsSnippyPants Report your own opening post and ask using the form, they don't pay attention to @'s

Thinkingabout1t · 17/02/2020 19:24

This is heartbreaking. Peter Tatchell used to be one my heroes.

With his commitment to human rights, why doesn't he see that children can't make the free and informed choices that adults can? Children are easily influenced and tricked by adults. Their abilities aren't developed to the same level. That's why we don't let them drive cars or drink alcohol.

But I don't need to tell anyone on Mumsnet.

MrsKneller · 17/02/2020 19:38

Yes, we should stop safeguarding because dangerous men will do it anyway. No point in trying to protect ourselves or our daughters!

I feel so sad about this. A (male) relative of mine met Peter Tatchell some years ago. He initially behaved in an unhelpful way but then called & apologised, explained what had led to it, went out of his way to be courteous to a young man who had nothing to offer him. Seemed kind & decent & principled. I guess this kindness and decency is not shown to women and girls.

And his comments about sex with children...urg. Why is this not brought up in interviews? Why does the BBC overlook it?

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 17/02/2020 19:40

Why does the BBC overlook it?

Because they are all part of it, they overlook a lot of pedophilia within their walls as long as it helps them manipulate the public.
