Starmer and Thornberry much more careful - Thornberry saying TWAW, but pleading for people stop screeching about hate, and that seemed in reference to WPUK and LGB alliance and she wont be signing the pledge. Starmer much, much more careful.

But all, every one, framing it as a question about trans rights and completely ignoring the issue being about women.

Starmer is far more considered in his opinions. He's not going to jump on bandwagons.
It's sad that it is taking a man to protect women's interests.

Pathetic from ET. They carefully use all the right (as in wrong) language, don't they? Why is she talking about the existence of trans people? Literally no one but TRAs ever brings the idea of existence into the debate.

As I remember it, Starmer said something along the lines of it being a difficult issue and there were conflicting arguments to be weighed up. He didn't get any further because the BBC cut him off and said there was no time to discuss it further.

Yeah, I'm really not going to believe that Starmer was building up to any kind of statement about protecting women's rights even to speak about their rights in the first place, but the BBC cut him off before he could. Honestly. None of these candidates will stand for women. Not one.
Starmer might be the least worst option because he isn't openly announcing that women can fuck off like the other three, but that doesn't mean he's going to do any different, and frankly, I'd rather see the blows coming so I can have a chance of dodging them that have it sneak up on me from a man who for some reason a few here think is stealth GC.

I did watch this and thought why are they talking as though there is going to be another election. What are they going to do as the opposition which they totally failed to do under Corbyn.

Then the question at the end about women's sex based rights and trans rights.

I thought well at least Emily Thornberry was trying to say there are rights on both sides and talking about hate groups isn't helpful, and now I see she has signed the Labour Trans Pledge. What?!! Within half an hour of the programme ending. Wonder who got to her. But interesting that she linked it to the issue of anti semitism in the Labour Party, as she said that it shouldn't be used to stop criticism of the Israeli Government, but the demand of some activists is that you shouldn't.

But frightening that they were all happy to present it as it only being about trans people being under attack. But noticeable that the presenter was only half hearted in her attempts to get them to address the issue of the rights of biological women.

It just seems the tories will be in power for decades and with the likelihood of Scotland going independent wont even have the SNP to challenge the free marketeer Boris.

Who was the presenter btw?

I just looked at the timescale for the leadership contest and there is nearly another two months of this shit to go. What a complete waste of everyone’s time and energy when it’s abundantly clear that the only direction this party is going is towards further self-inflicted electoral loss and disengagement from voters’ concerns. I’m not a conspiracy theorist by any stretch of the imagination but it really feels like identity politics has been injected into the political landscape to bring about the destruction of the Left. I’m also dismayed at how extraordinarily rapidly the intellectual calibre of MPs has declined in the last ten years. It’s quite frightening to see how impressionable, rigidly ideological, and impervious to reasoned and nuanced thinking so many of them are.
