Manish Shah assaulted 23 women and a 15-year-old girl while working in London - carrying out invasive examinations for his own gratification."

Why am I not surprised that this was a man doing it to women and girls? Yet the headline gives no clue... If this had been a woman it would have been 'Woman doctor...' Terrible, terrible man. Condolences to all the women and girls he assaulted.

3 life sentences - could be out in 15 (so the news said). That’s not much time per assault really is it?

And people wonder why we want to see female healthcare workers....

Really think this shows something wrong with the criminal justice system. What’s the point of calling it a life sentence?

It doesn't mean life is the amount of time you spend in jail, it means for the rest of your life you're on license, you can be recalled at any time, it's a life on probation.

the majority of convicted sex offenders who apply to be taken off the register are successful, so it doesn't mean he will be on the register for life.

Horrific, I wonder what safeguards can be put in place to stop this happening again. Are these examinations usually chaperoned?

I had to sign a written consent form for pelvic exam when I saw a female pelvic health physio, is that the way forward?

My young female doctor asked me if I'd like a chaperone for a breast exam!
