Amber Danielle Thorrden filed a federal suit against the state’s Department of Corrections on Tuesday, claiming she is no longer safe at an all-male prison.

Thorrden, 41, says the constitutional rights in the Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments should legally allow her to be transferred to Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville. In the complaint to the DOC, she says her situation warrants a move because Snake River is “failing to protect her from harm,” and that she has been denied “equal protection” and “protection from discrimination.”

[Dobbs] was convicted of multiple counts of second degree rape and first degree sexual abuse in 2015 for sex with a minor. While in prison, Dobbs transitioned to identify as a woman.

Convicted sex offenders should not be allowed to legally change sex. This allows them to hide their previous actions to varying degrees, which should not be allowed. They should never be housed with vulnerable women ever.

I was taught at my (girls) school that rape and sexual assault are about power as much as sex. If that's true then taking away penis and testicles would have no impact on the ability or desire to commit crimes around power.

Suing the state is probably one of the limited ways this individual can assert control over others. Take away the power to control in the ideology, set out sensible rules that protect everyone with third spaces and both women and the trans community would benefit.

With self Id, there is no such thing as “genuine trans”. It becomes meaningless. If you say you are, you are. It’s not a question of whether you have genuine dysphoria, and it’s certainly not a question of DESERVING to be trans.
Once self Id is enshrined in law, reality has shifted, “Rights” mean that any questioning of a person who “self ids”, is discriminatory.
This is the danger. - It’s not about being a woman if you FEEL you are a woman, it’s about being a woman if you SAY you feel you are a woman.
