A policewoman involved in the investigation into grooming gangs has denounced police failures to protect vulnerable victims and alleges the abuse was going on in plain view. She wants negligent individuals held accountable

I want the law changing so there can be retrospective accountability for people whose duty it is to protect the vulnerable. She's right. And I know was tireless in pursuing what happened. It's replicated everywhere. I've just watched the BBC programme on the establishment cover up of the paedophile Bishop Peter Ball (sorry for the Guardian link)

Prosecuting those who were responsible for hiding / covering up / failing to take action against paedophiles would be a real warning shot for all those establishment figures / organisations currently removing safeguarding from vulnerable groups of children.

Unfortunately Maggie Oliver has teamed up with a notorious self proclaimed "police whistleblower" and satanic panic promoter Jon Wedger as can be seen in this video

This is very sad as I had, for some time, had nothing but respect for Maggie Oliver.

Oliver's association with Wedger is cause for concern for anyone who cares about the truth and is aware of fake news.

I lack sufficient data to know what could have happened for someone as reputable as Maggie Oliver to associate herself with a grifter like Jon Wedger.

It is possible that he groomed her into believing his bizarre claims when she was vulnerable and traumatised following work bullying and or just the traumatising nature of police work with sexually exploited women and children.

I believe that Private Eye magazine have reported on this issue

There's absolutely nothing fake about the police's failure to investigate promptly. That's a fact. She's speaking out on the eve of a report into police failures.

A child who had been forcibly injected with heroin by a 50 year old pedophile and had reported her abuse to social workers died.

So very very sad for those children. I hope the gangs are now arrested and the police, that coroner, and social workers etc etc are also disciplined.

It might be rather challenging to get an ex post facto law passed.

MsSafina, Anne Crier was a superb local MP who really helped her constituents. That even she was unable to get this looked at shows just how deep the problem goes. We need the names of those who failed to investigate, maybe seeing names will encourage those in the future to do the right rather than easy thing.

@refusetobeasheep. Anne Cryer came up against the establishment. In this case, the liberal establishment with their cries of racism. Just as the boys who had accused Peter Ball came up against the establishment of the church, gentry and royals. It's a wall either way.

Christ the parallels today are disturbing. It used to be accusations of racism that silenced people with concerns. People who queried the evidence of their own eyes came up against the stone wall of the establishment. Now Stonewall is the establishment.

The Peter Ball documentary was horrendous - and very sobering in terms of the range of establishment figures who supported him, usually with full knowledge of the evidence and his admission of guilt.
The patterns are the same. A collective decision by those in power (usually men) to cover up abuse and collude with abusers.

The moment any group is treated as above suspicion, predators will begin working their way into that group. It's as predictable as the seasons and anyone who claims it won't happen this time is an idiot.

Yes. That woman whistleblower who was sent on a “racism awareness course”.

Its not uncommon for whistleblowers who have been ignored and indeed suffered as the result of speaking up, to turn to more dubious figures to try and get a message across.

Its to do with having invested so much emotionally and having lost all faith in traditional authority who are supposed to have carried out that role of responsibility.
