Transgender player signs for top tier Argentine side

The first transwoman to join a top flight club in Argentina has signed with Villa San Carlos in the midst of a relegation battle. (As reported in The Sun.) Mara Gomez aged 22 is pictured, standing at least a foot taller than the female player next to her.....I don't know if this is a mixed sex team (well, it is now) or if it is a womens team. Can anyone confirm?

Sportinglife claims that it is a women's team that this trans woman has joined. What a joke. I've not known any female football players or managers to speak out about this issue, but then, as far as I know, it hasn't happened in the UK yet. It's hard to predict how it will go because quite a high percentage of women footballers are gay and there's quite a strong link with stonewall, but at the same time, these women have had to fight so much harder for so much smaller rewards to play football, all on account of their sex.

There's a chance that English female players would have to play against this MTF person in the World Cup though.

It would almost be worth it to see Phillip Neville's post-match interview, assuming he's still in charge He's inept as a manager but he certainly doesn't hold back when he feels something unfair has happened on the pitch. And he's a man, so people might actually listen to him.

Yes. I imagine a lot of English people with an interest in football would feel it was unfair if Argentina beat us for that reason.
