Are calling for women to submit their thoughts on self-ID. They have a template at the ready.

twitter.com/cupwomenspledge/status/1214157442164150272?s=21

Not a Tory fan myself but as they're the ones holding the fort (ha) I'll be contributing.

Sorry if I've cross-posted..

I will but I don't use Twitter...

MrsSnippyPants · 08/01/2020 12:35

If anyone who doesn't use Twitter would like a copy of the email just drop me a message on here and I will send you a copy.

Floisme · 08/01/2020 13:18

Thanks for the link. It seems to be aimed at people living in conservative constituencies but if you do, I think it's important to respond. This is the party holding all the power for at least the next 5 years and probably 10. I'm sure the TWAW lobby will have no qualms about working with them regardless off any personal views.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 08/01/2020 13:20

I'm in a safe Tory seat. But not on Twatter. HOw can I respond?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 08/01/2020 13:20

I'd take them up on it, but I am not on twitter... so I have messaged @TheCountessofFitzdotterel Smile

CuriousaboutSamphire · 08/01/2020 13:21

Sorry, that should have been @MrsSnippyPants

Good job I posted here before messaging !!

MrsSnippyPants · 08/01/2020 13:22

Exactly Floisme
We can only play the hand we are dealt, and at the moment that is a Conservative party with a very healthy majority. If we are ever to get SelfID ruled out, and experimentation on children stopped, not just 'kicked into the long grass', then now is the time to do it.
Women across ALL parties are working on this.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 08/01/2020 13:39

I thank you. Mine has been modified a bit and sent Smile

misscockerspaniel · 08/01/2020 13:50

I don't have a Tory MP but I will still be responding.

MrsSnippyPants · 08/01/2020 13:59

If you message me JohnnyMcGrath I can provide a copy.

Women and girls' rights to single sex spaces

Dear

Many women in your constituency are too nervous to contact you about this issue, especially following the Maya Forstater case, where believing in biological sex makes one vulnerable to disciplinary proceedings or even dismissal.

Perhaps you could make them feel more confident in coming forward by signing our petition, to say you support sex-based rights for women and girls?

I’m sure when you read it you will see women are not asking for extra rights, simply to maintain their CURRENT rights under the 2010 Equality Act which allows for single sex spaces for the reasons of privacy, dignity and safety.

We hope you feel able to support this pledge, but if you don’t, please would you tell us why?

^^ that's the template letter from them, although copying / pasting from their DM has removed the hyperlink re-naming

Is still didn't work, sorry!

The links work for me. Do we need to be members of the Conservative Women’s Pledge Group to send this email?

OhGodWhatTheHellNow · 08/01/2020 14:21

Well, I've just sent it to mine. He's generally regarded as a decent enough fellow for an mp, a medical doctor who was very helpful to a friend who had her thyroid medication priced out of reach, much to her (pro-Corbyn) distress. I will wait and see what he says.

OhGodWhatTheHellNow · 08/01/2020 14:22

Boswell I wasn't sure either so sent it from myself, pointing him at the petition and group.

midcenturylegs · 08/01/2020 14:29

I don't see why we should have to be a member... we are lobbying our MPs as anyone can do?

OP posts:
MrsSnippyPants · 08/01/2020 14:43

Anyone can contact their MP on any issue, however you voted.

If your MP is a Conservative, then this email can be used as is, just adding your name and address (MPs are supposed to respond to constituents but generally can ignore anyone else), but it can be adapted for other MPs by adding a link to the other petitions for instance.

Terfykins · 08/01/2020 19:05

Have any Conservative MPs already signed it? How do I find out if mine has?

midcenturylegs · 08/01/2020 19:10

MrsSnippyPants might know this, but I think asking the question direct of your MP might be the right way to go about it.

OP posts:
MrsSnippyPants · 08/01/2020 20:00

A number of Conservative councillors have signed it but as far as I know no MPs have yet. (Having said that, the Twitter account linked to the petition had been significantly deboosted since its inception, see their timeline for details; it has only been freely viewable in the last 48 hours!).
There has been a positive response from a couple of new MPs but I have been told they don't sign petitions as a matter of policy.

As midcenturylegs said, best way is to email them and ask them!

midcenturylegs · 10/01/2020 20:17

Agreed MrsSnippyPants - It's all very well living in our GC MN or Twitter bubble - we all need to write to and visit our MPs. Esp right now re the proposed Scot Gov GRR bill

OP posts:
Terfykins · 10/01/2020 22:06

Sorry, been away from here for a bit. Thanks, MrsSnippy.
