How fascinating. I do enjoy how FWR is, all at the same time, a radicalisation portal for mums; a handful of bitter feminists, and the Kitchen of Banishment for uppity women.

The bone-deep misogyny which assumes that procreation strips women of intelligence, awareness and activism. It is also rampant ageism from the dubiously youthful wokescolds of schoolyard Twitter.

Many of these poor creatures will, at some point, need to grow-up and embrace not only the responsibilities of adulthood, but the realities of aging in a sexed body. I suspect the impact of reality will come as a nasty shock to the wan children of identity politics.

That's what I was thinking. As a "shut up and mind your knitting" comment, all it does is show how much things have changed.

Although suffragists probably met in kitchens, and we know they did radical needlework, so maybe actually not that much.

The guys are just oblivious, as usual.

It's particularly telling how so many of the examples are combined with misogynistic slurs like 'bitch' or 'whore'.

LangCleg · 02/01/2020 10:08

I like to read it as a compliment via expressions of existential panic. Banishment is the only way to avoid the reflection of truth these misogynists see in our eyes.

I’d be interested to know how many of those telling us to get back to Mumsnet spend time here trying to derail threads and so on.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 02/01/2020 10:46

Well, I prefer 'go back to mumsnet' to the more usual 'die in a fire', gun pictures, and so on. Though perhaps, as with so many things, misogyny is a SPeCtrum.

For this and more fun, come to Spinster, Rebecca is there Grin
